While I do NOT blame MI and/or Derek Murphy for Meza's suicide; Murphy will have to decide how he is going to handle the reporting of cheating on his site. When does he just "rest his case?" After 10 stories? Until the cheater admits to cheating?
I know Derek found some more evidence, after this first stories, on here. So, for people on here, when will you "rest your case?"
Derek's style is to post his findings while he continues his investigation. So when there are multiple marathons to be investigated there will be multiple articles posted. Personally, I'm not a fan of this style as each article can come across as a work in progress rather than a finished piece. But I can see how it fits in with the internet style of update, update, update. Also, I'm not sure how these boards would have reacted if he said he needed three months to collect data, three months to review it and a further three months to write it up.
The New Yorker article on Kip Litton was longer than Derek's collective articles and covered more races in which he cheated. But, because it came out in one issue it was not seen as a constant onslaught. The Frank Meza story is one that really deserves to be written up professionally but following his suicide I doubt that will happen.
