With the privilege of having a consistent, pro level group to train with and the level of funding that attracts comes contribution to the collective account. She wasn't tabbed by NOP or Bowerman so her talent level isn't to the level that she can just sit back and do what she wants whenever outside of training in a funded group like NAZ. It can also be tough for someone to come out of a college program or conference where they were top dog and have to sit in the back seat for weeks and months, not even in the top three athletes in the group. It can be difficult if you're used to being the darling star who got a significant amount of attention from your coaches. IDP seems a bit more free form though that probably means less easy access to resources. Or you don't play recovery/communication right in the new system and get injured. That's life.
For whomever asked, the IDP coach is Emma's dude.
