God, no! It's a great meeting as it is. It doesn't need a gimmick event like that.

What's your schtick, lad? If you are a troll, hats off to you for continuing the ruse all this time. If you are actually mentally challenged or autistic, then I wholeheartedly apologise for my comment.
Folks, I'm just going to see how clever this embedly thing is, to see if last year's results actually show up here on LRC....apologies for the noise...
Nope, it's not that clever. Never mind. You'll just have to click away from this site on the night...
Not sure this is going to work from outside UK, but the races are also going to be livestreamed on the BBC website (in addition to Vinco)
For the locals also Red Button on TV... but obviously head to Parliament Hill if you can....
The men's C race (that has runners faster than the B race Euro runners) is scheduled for 5:15pm when it will be too hot for 10k running.
There is a huge pause in proceedings to hear from a guest speaker who speaks when conditions are best for running. The speaker is often very good, but I think the meet should focus on running fast - and those in the C race should get to run in better conditions. Especially as it is top tier British talent who get bumped to the C race as worse Euro runners get the B spots by virtue of being in the Euro cup.
Do people really come to listen to the guest speaker? I come to watch fast running.

Temperature expected to be 19 at the time you mention to drop down to 17, hardly a deal breaker. The meeting is normally in May but had to be delayed to accomodate for Doha being so late in the year.

You're missing the point that it's almost eight solid hours of races. The officials actually need a break. Do you know how hard you have to focus being a manual lap-counter at this kind of thing? It would actually be illegal in Europe to make people work without a break that long, and certainly unwise given the average age of track and field officials.
Half of the crowds manage to listen, half can't get close enough to take the chance to get some food and drink and hang with their mates.
And since the guest speaker is usually one of the UK's best ever runners, most of us are happy to listen.
The format works.

Sorry, I know you are racing against your own time, but I need to put these in order. Back in a few hours.
Just getting them in time order and writing some stats as I go:
Ali Kaya TUR 27.24.09 at Mersin (Turkey) 2015. 25yo. Best half marathon time: 60.16 Istanbul 2016, first 5k split 15.04 followed by 13.46 and 13.50.
A real shame that Richard Ringer ran round half a lap behind the big boys in Lausanne last night rather than coming back to defend his title. He was inspired last year, would have liked to thank him for the entertainment.
Anyway, see you all in a few hours!
PS The Southampton Arms now takes cards, see you in there
Chris Thompson of GB (AFD stands for Aldershot, Farnham, and district). 27.27.36 back in 2011 at Palo Alto for 4th. Is 38yo.

Danielle Meucci (ITA) 27.32.86 from 2012, also Palo Alto, 4th as well. 34yo, better as a marathoner now, pb of 2.10.45 at Lake Biwa, 6th, last year.
is it just my pc broken or is there no audio on the livestream right now?
stream appears to be breaking up at times too

Yes, it was an insult and means that your comment shows a lot more about your own deficiencies than it does about those of the event.
Morhad Amdouni, 31yo and ranked 9. Ran his first 10000 on the track last year and his best time was in London at the European Cup, second in 27.36.80 then won the Euro champs. Debuted in the marathon this year in Paris, 8th in 2.09.14 so I am guessing he will run for France in the Olympics in either event.
Quickest woman is Sara Moreira of Portugal on exposed times, but I am betting (not literally) on Salpeter being quicker tonight. Sara is 33yo and ran 31.12.93 (reads like a date in time) in Huelva, Spain, in 2015.
Dulce Felix, also of Portugal, is next.

Ana Dulce Felix that should be. I am loving two stories of her durability. In 2012, Ana won gold in the 10000 at the Euro champs in Helsinki then five weeks later completed the course of the Olympic marathon, finishing 20th. Four years later she trumped that effort with silver in the Euro champs 10000 in her career best of 31.19.03 in Amsterdam, then four days later 12th in the half marathon at the same event, then five weeks on was 16th in the Rio Olympics marathon. Felix is 36 years old.
Two hours now until the women’s race.
