His brother Bravin Kiptoo runner-up in 27:30.
How is he his brother if they were born 5 months apart?
In Kenya it's normal for twins to be born a few months part.

The men opened with 4:18 then 5:07? Is the second mile that steep?
Soprano had a typo. Second mile was 4:07. It's slightly down hill.
Yeah, 8:25 (not 9:25) at 2 mile mark!!
Kenah is going to have to get a day job. Did he just pay $50,000 course record bonuses for all 4 races?!
Seems like perhaps this was one of his first endeavors in covering a race and has taken some flack for his errors and lack of providing any real scoop on the race.
But I’m giving him a ?? anyway.
I always get giddy when Craig Virgin posts. What a legend. I'd totally buy a reprint of that shirt.
Craig, I like your posts, because your thoughts are essentially straight and to the point-to-point, er, um, like the Peachtree course. You shoot from the hip, and that's refreshing. And you deserve to feel slighted.
Thanks for speaking up. We can't go back in time and pretend that you're the leader of the pack any more...except through the magic of google and especially YouTube, and after you post stories and matter-of-fact recollections from yesteryear. Here's just one special YouTube clip -- your '81 Peachtree AR victory -- to make us oldies smile and cheer -- and, I'd hope, to inspire younger runners, too:

Best wishes, and keep on chiming in from time to time.

You'd think between him and Monti, we'd have some explanation for why the Men's pacer only went 1200 meters.
Wow, 100% that Fancy Chemutai is a man.
I know Fancy.
If you would meet her you would know she is all she. What a sweet girl she is...simply a buzz haircut.

The first time I remember watching her run was at 2018 Ras Al Khaimah International Half Marathon. I thought it was a male pacer and thinking to myself, "WTF is he sprinting to the finish line? He should step to the side by now. "
Watching the replay right now. He went through 5k they said in 13:09? WTF? Calling it now, he'll get Bekele 10000m record on the track.
Above just sliced up B Bread

Fairly steep downhill from mile 2 - mile 3, but yeah, this guy is ridiculous.
Just crazy that Kipruto ran 27:01 today. The high-low for today were 93/74 in Atlanta. He surely can make a very good run at Bekele's 10000m record on the track in a setup Euro race in perfect conditions. And yes, I'm going to say that there is no way that he is running clean. What he has done is absolutely amazing.
Fancy Chemutai absolutely has some male advantages that is not just a buzzcut. I don't doubt she is a good person and nice but come on dude it is plain as day. At least she runs like hell and isn't out there half assing it and kicking at the very end.

Time apart at birth is rather inconsequential when it’s DAD that makes you half-brothers.
Great to hear from a legend, thanks Craig.
I watched the Peachtree on TV, recorded it and watched a second time. The only incentive the runners had to set CR was the 50,000.00 bonus. There were pacers but they were of no help. The 2 men pacers dropped out at exactly 3:52 into the race (1500M) and were struggling to stay with the 5 lead men. The female pacer was with the lead group at 3:42 (TV broke to the national anthem) when they came back to live action the lead women group were 7:00 into their race and there was no pacer (probably dropped out at 1 mile at best) The only benefit the pacers provided may have been to make sure the elite runners did not go out too fast the first 1500M. In my opinion, correct me if I am wrong, a pacer really needs to go 6K with the group in a 10K to provide much benefit. Most likely the local track club just wanted to give a few of their top athletes (the pacers) an opportunity to start/run with the world class elites for a few minutes.
Regardless, the effort by the wheelchair athletes and foot athletes was incredible. I have raced the course 15 times and that course is tough. 0-1 climbs 29 feet / 1-2.7 is a violent drop / 2.7 steep hill / 3.0-3.5 steep hill / 3.5-4 rolls / 4-5.5 is a long gradual hill that seems to never end / 5.7-finish is fairly fast with one hill but more down hills + it is always hot and humid on July 4th in Atlanta - elite athletes were fortunate it was cloudy and there was no sun out when they raced. A 27:01, what is that a 4:18 to 4:19 average pace? Incredible and to have 3 women under 30:30! Great job to all the finishers.

I saw the pacers beforehand, and all I could think to myself was there was no way those dudes were going to be able to stick with the leaders for very long. I didn't realize just how short they actually made it.
