Four women were still with the rabbit a bit after 5k, but running alongside her rather than behind her. Then they blew by her at about the 19 minute mark. Brigid Kosgei, Fancy Chemutai, Caroline Kipkirui and Agnes Tirop all running together as a pack.
EDIT: Women's race down to three. Men's race is just two already before 5k with Rhonex Kipruto leading his brother, Bravin Kiptoo.
Splits: Elite men hit 1 mile in 4:18, 2 miles at
9:25
8:25. Elite women hit 5k in 14:55 and 4 miles in 19:36.
Brigid Kosgei trying to hammer away from the other two. Has about a 10m lead with just a few minutes left.
EDIT: Kosgei's lead was short lived as Chemutai and Kipkirui went by her and now it's Chemutai leading the other two right behind. Going to be a nail biter of a finish.
Brigid Kosgei takes it with a kick to win by less than a second. Unofficially got the record and $50,000 bonus at 30:23!
Kipruto running all alone in the men's race.
I don't know what happened but Chemutai just slowed down before the finish line
Looks like 27:01 course record for men. CR for women too.
Kipruto unofficially 27:01 to get the record and $50,000 bonus as well.
His brother Bravin Kiptoo runner-up in 27:30.
Insane how he isn't even breathing heavily after a 10k in 27:01.......

That’s not even 0.6% of the population
The men opened with 4:18 then 5:07? Is the second mile that steep?

Brigid Kosgei should be DQ'd for cutting off Agnes Tirop at the end. What a dirty move.

Soprano had a typo. Second mile was 4:07. It's slightly down hill.

How is he his brother if they were born 5 months apart?

That's the info their Italian agents submitted to the IAAF. Questioning any of this is "racist."
Who's going to turn in the most absurd age/drug cheat performances this year? Rhonex, Barega, or Tefera? It's gonna be close.

Sigh....
Any serious reply?
Googling that LRC is the only place where I see the reference to them being brothers.
Simple: Bravin was born premature.
