Yea.....never heard about this
I would've payed pay per view to watch Jim Walsmey live from start to finish yesterday.
You guys can’t be mad at this, when the final two guys are track guys! It proves the point that track speed is better than football speed. Theirs many track guys in the league. We know Goodwin is an Olympian and donte jackson was on LSUs 4x1 a couple years ago.

It’s sickening.
But how many of those same hard-working people who are struggling to get by are NFL fans who really enjoyed this event.
Did this provide more utility than that $1M divvied up among all the poor struggling fans who enjoyed it?
Whoa there. You're not going to persuade liberals using logic and economics.
Lol $1M?
This is again a reminder of the big fluck up of running. Why aren't we more marketable? Why are we not promoting the f out of our sport?
This is so awesome! Love the format and the big prize pool. If they’re in shape, I’d love to see the following track/football guys compete:
- Jeff Demps
- Trindon Holliday
- Jacoby Ford
- CJ Spiller
- RG III
- Devon Allen
Awesome!
i'm gonna have to stop you there wrote:

Hah, joke's on you. I find that I'm liberal on more things than I thought I was.
Seriously though, that doesn't have any bearing on how this was a great display of how track is dropping the ball, but can be interesting to the masses. No one is going to throw that kind of money around if it isn't worth it. Now we as a sport need to learn from it and find ways to deliver a product that a similar number of people will enjoy.
Spitball/ throwaway idea here- a more track-centric ripoff of the Superstars reruns I grew up watching: A scaled down quad meet (fewer events) with teams made up of current/ former NFL and NBA athletes, a team of other miscellaneous athletes/ athletic celebrities, and a team of recently graduated seniors from the NCAA outdoor champion team(?)/ some other crew of track athletes who will win but at least let it be competitive.
Including other pro athletes brings instant credibility and name recognition. You could also make it fun to put a bunch of pro athletes in a decathlon against good (non-decathlete) track athletes.

Funny part of the article says ted Ginn jr, the guy who challenged matt Boling and claims he is the fastest nfl player, was on the start list but withdrew before the competition began. How does Boling give Ginn any credibility after that! A lot of nfl guys who say theyre fast dont show up to race. And it also makes sense a lot are scared since the show decided to NOT even show times because of the huge player egos. Think about that, wow.
As I recall, Ted Ginn, Jr (legit track guy in HS) did not challenge Matt Boling. Ginn proposed racing anyone for some amount of money and Boling responded on twitter or IG or some place. I do not think that constitutes challenging Boling.
For the 100, it makes a lot of sense. Not sure a head to head 1500 with 8 rounds would be much fun to watch (although it brings up an interesting idea in terms of strategy).
Superstars was AWESOME! The kids in my neighborhood created our own events including an obstacle course.
Pole vaulter Bob Seagran won Superstars at least once.
I think my favorite event was the bicycle race on the track---as in running track. Someone must have seen Breaking Away or gone to Indiana.
Now we just need the BroJos to fund this venture.
Or John LeGere? Maybe T-Mobile can put the whole thing on.
They didn't spend a million filming it.
Not giving the times is lame and shows they can't stand comparison to real sprinters

You mean like getting Centro, Evan, Ritz et al to a free throw shooting contest for $1million?
Who would win the NBA version of this contest?

Marquise Goodwin has an 8.45m LJ PR and ran 10.18 in high school as well as several 10.2s... to jump 8.45 you need to be able to run roughly 10.1 or faster. That makes him a "real sprinter" even if he chose to pursue football.
What was the winning time of the kentucky derby? Indianapolis 500? Both pay the winner way more than $1M. And what do they all have in common? It's about racing not about time. When track and field became obsessed with world records, it was the beginning of the end for spectators. Even the common runner doesn't care about PRs or times, they care about experiences, medals, and being with friends. Olympic trials is one of the most watched events because know top 3 go to Olympics. When they added in standards and times it made it so complicated.
USATF, NCAA, NFHS all need to get in a room together and talk about what is best for the sport. The NFL can regulate just about everything about the sport of Football. Track has too many organizations with too many ideas.
Makes millions happy? I don't know about that the way fans react to games they seem pretty angry and miserable for something meant enjoyment and entertainment.

The power to change that rests with the individual. Stop paying for game tickets and TV Sports packages. Use the time you would have spent following sports to develop a skill, get better at your job, learn how to invest, etc.
