Big feature from Ken Goe is out on Murphy and this line caught my attention:
“I’ve literally never heard Clayton say one cuss word. You can say that’s a little thing. In a way, sometimes, little things tell you a lot.”

Little things tell me a lot about Salazar. That he's a terrible human being.
Two things caught my attention.
1)Salazar says he thinks Murphy’s best event soon will be the 1,500.
I just think that shows we all have a tendency to want to move guys up. Murphy is already third best in the world in the 800. Yet we might move him up? The article says he can't stick with Kejelcha in the 1500 workouts whom Salazar describes as arguably one of the top 5 milers in the world.
I guess the appeal of moving him up is maybe he wins gold in the 1500. The 1500 seems to be more of a crapshoot for gold than the 800. Could it be argued that Murphy might be more of a sure thing for a medal in the 800 but have better odds for gold in the 1500? But I'm not sure about that. I mean who can't he beat in the 800? If Korir is on top of his game is that another level above Murphy?
2) I was shocked his wife said the following about his times.
“He might not be running as fast as he was a few years ago,” Washington says. “But all the things he is doing now are going to pay off.
Rojo, your use of the word 'whom' tells me a lot.
The fact that Salazar believes refusing to use 'bad words' is a sign of sterling moral character tells us a lot about HIM.
Namely that he's kind of an idiot.

Salazar is right, overuse of curse words is a major low IQ tell
Historically, the consensus top guy in the 800m has often lost. Between 1984 and 2012, there were six gold medalists, none of whom arguably were clearly the best guys in the world. Cruz and Rudisha were obviously the best in 1984 and 2012. Rudisha had been away a bit and came back good enough to win a game as a lesser favorite in 2016.
1984 Joaquim Cruz
1988 Paul Ereng
1992 William Tanui
1996 Vebjorn Rodal
2000 Nils Schumann
2004 Yuriy Borzakovskiy
2008 WIlfred Bungei (Wilson Kipketer had silver in 2000 and bronze in 2004)
2012 David Rudisha
2016 David Rudisha
In the 1500m, there was Coe, Coe, a 3:35 guy in Peter Rono, Cacho, who ran 3:28 high eventually but wasn't the favorite, Morceli, the wr holder and El G fell, Ngeny (a 3:43 guy), El G, two cheaters with titles in 2008, Ramzi and Kiprop (not yet the favorite), then two big surprises in Makh Daddy and Centro. Hard to say right now but the 1500m I would rate as tougher to win gold in the current field. What is going on here may just be that Brazier is looking the best guy right now at 800m in their own stable. Salazar likes to train 5000m guys like 1500m runners--probably he thinks Kejelcha is better off where he is closer to the best kicker (Barega right now), so that's why he has him still at 5 and 10.

Why would that be shocking to you?
to win a Games title, that should have read.

I had an acquaintance who was very religious, never swore, among other hard rules that she stuck to. One day a mutual friend was telling us a heartfelt story about her nephew who had passed away a few days after birth. The religious woman asked if the baby was baptized. When she was told that he wasnt, she said, "oh that's too bad, that means he will spend eternity in hell."
As far as metrics of good versus bad values, this one is pretty meaningless.

Never swearing means you keep your anger bottled up, which is not healthy. It did in the past make his hate pure enough to run a fast 800 or two, but that's history now, apparently. Eventually the unexpressed hate turns to sadness and then depression, which means slow.
Has Salazar ever coached an 800 runner to any sort of improvement?

So you think nobody can deal with their anger in a healthy fashion without swearing?

You must be new to Letsrun.
A man who doesn't curse has no depth, no substance.
Never trust a man who thinks cursing is a bad thing.
The man in the foxhole isn't praying, he's cursing.
What kind of shallow weakling thinks badly of cursing? You serious? Have you lived, at all?
To those who have a problem with cursing, including that corrupt weirdo AlSal, I say EEFFFFFF YOU buddy.
I am amazed at the judgemental people here. Dating is for the enjoying somebody's company and for finding a spouse. How do you cheat when you are dating? What you do on your own time is your business. Marriage is a commitment .

Third best in the world? This isn't 2016. Murphy isn't even the best 800 guy on his team. That would be Brazier.

See here:
