They should be the best program in the nation... Stanford has won the directors' cup 25 straight years. Most NCAA titles of any school.
That award was a combination of XC/indoor/outdoor. Not just outdoor track and field. You can blame his assistants for the lack of sprinting/hurdling performance but it has to be attributed somewhere.
Also, it should be incredibly easy to recruit when you can sell the value of a Stanford education...
I can't tell if you're arguing with me or not...
So you agree they're the best overall program in the nation?
Also, it's not "easy" to recruit these kids. They're highly academic. Contrary to popular belief, there's a reason they can't get in kids like Soren Knudson and Brodey Hastey. So that academic thing works against them a lot of the time.
Also, if you're bringing a kid in because you "sold the value of a Stanford education" that means they showed up to campus because they value academics and will care about that just as much or more than running. These are the types of kids you recruit. They mega-stud students that have never gotten below an A in their life. There was an article a while back about Grant Fisher overworking himself in his engineering courses and it had a negative impact on his running.
