Interesting development.
Stanford men made the podium in XC every year from 2014-2017 and were 5th last year. UNC has only qualified for NCAAs two times in the last 27 years (most recently in 2014).
This also brings up the question: who gets the Stanford job?

It's not a development. I posted it on the jobs thread a while ago.

And the women’s coach resigned as well.

You mean you were one of the posters implying that a west coast coach was looking at UNC while giving no real indication of who it was and choosing not to verify message board rumors, right? -
Check again buddy. I posted "Milt"
-
The best sub-drama is what does Andrea do? All year telling people she was the next Director and they choose another distance person instead! Does she stay? Does Milt bring in Debole again?
-
Well put a feather in your cap, but it became official today. Not just your speculation.
-
Why? Stanford has a great thing going, great recruits, Milt seemed comfortable there. UNC has been in the pits seemingly forever. Why would someone leave that position?
-
Sounds like he and his wife wanted to come back to the East Coast probably family grandparents etc. Carolina fits all the boxes top 25 academics but also the ability to generate a top-five program with the right person in charge the school recruits itself beautiful campus and facilities within 3 to 5 years he will have Carolina in the top 10 guaranteed

Probably doesn’t want to live in a million dollar California crap shack. Taxes, traffic, homeless people. Yea I could see lots of reasons to leave.
-
UNC has the ability to be great and he can be part of a staff of the likes of Mack Brown and Roy Williams. Furthermore his salary is going to go way further in Chapel Hill than it did in Stanford. This will be a true test of his coaching ability.

Tinman to coach stanford

Wonder what this means for recruits such as Anderson, Hart, (Kristen)Fahy and people on the team such as Lane. Ratcliffe, and (Steven) Fahy.

How many NCAA XC titles would his team win? Probably a record number. -

Why does every director leave Stanford?
First it was Vin Lananna getting out, then Floreal, now Milt. And there have been some others I think as well - maybe not directors.
A) there is lots of pressure B) It's expensive.
I once heard a story that the AD once asked everyone to raise their hand if they'd won an NCAA title. I can't remember if Milt was the coach there or not but basically everyone in the room save for the football, basketball and track/xc coaches raised their hands.
So basically the expectation is you will win an NCAA title. -
Andrea Grove McDonough goes home devastated! Can't say she didn't have it coming, though. She tried to poach it out from under the previous director while working for him.
She might end up at Boston University. -

I hate to see anyone loose their job but the underhanded way AGM went behind Harlis to try to take his job was not only tacky but STUPID. She was downright obnoxious about how she was getting the director job. Karma -
Milt forced to keep Andrea on.

California is literally on fire a lot more often than North Carolina is.

Didn't they just hire Bobby Lockhart as the Men's Distance/CC coach this past fall?
