Biden was not a candidate in 2016.
Your'e thinking 2008.
His son, Beau died in May 2015.
That was around the time where candidates get in the race.
He wasn't ready then and the time passed.
Also, there was likely party pressure to go all in with Hillary and no major Democrat ran against her.
As VP, Biden could have gotten in late and still had a chance.
You actually think that he didnt run because his son died? He was TOLD not to run against Clinton, it was "her time". Just look at how it was rigged against ol crazy Bernie and he wasn't even a real contender. Just a crazy ol socialist coot and they even had the party working against him!
It was 100% set up for HRC to be the first woman president. And she fell flat on her face.
Progressives, I know this is hard for you but Bernie nor Warren has a good chance of winning the battle ground states.
Biden can win those states. Mayor Pete, Bloomberg and klobuchar can win those state too. Not completely sure about Mayor Pete. How don't have a good sense how bigoted independents regarding gays. I know conservative Republicans are bigoted about gays but they wouldn't vote democrat anyway.
We can't risk Warren and have another 4 years of Trump. Bernie is another George McGovern. A passionate base but he will easily lose the general.

The problem with this is that those people are boring and voter turn out will be low for Biden, Pete, Amy or Bloomberg. Low voter turnout = Republicans win. Google the stats. Democrats win when there is high voter turn out ie most people lean towards progressive ideals but conservatives are more reliable to actually vote. Part of that is because of targeted voter suppression perpetrated by Republicans. The answer? A candidate that incites high voter turnout and all out mobilization in getting people registered and too the voting booths. A good ol grass roots movement. Theres only 1 candidate that fits this description right now.
It's a Quid Pro Joe Town Hall on CNN tonight. I expect no questions about Ukraine or about Hunter since CNN will be tossing softball questions all night.
Prove me wrong CNN.
a real progressive will win wrote:

I completely agree with you.

I do agree with you there.
Which is why I wrote "there was likely party pressure to go all in with Hillary".
You quoted my post but didn't read it.
I still think Beau's death made Joe a bit fragile to buck the party at the time.
Hillary's loss made all bets off and the large field this time.
I'm completely in on Bloomberg.
I can't stand Trump, personally. I'm fine with most of his policies (although I think his foreign policy is a bit of a jumbled mess.) I hate his name calling, his bullying, his narcissism. his a **holishness.
Bloomberg is a very enticing candidate. He has experience in government, he's not a "woke" fool, or crazy socialist. I see him as the sane answer to an insane candidate DT and the ridiculous parade of fools the Dems have trotted out to go against Trump.
I just don't think the Dems are smart enough to nominate him. They'll nominate some fool that is doomed to lose, then they will all want to protest in the streets and burn stuff down when DT wins another 4 years.
Are you voting for Bloomberg in your Democrat primary or just anonymously supporting him on the internet?
Do you think moderate Democrats should leave their support for Biden and vote for Bloomberg?
(Warren supporters aren't moving to Bloomberg)

Yes I am, and Yes I do.
I'll vote for him for POTUS if he's the nominee.
I'll vote for Bloomberg for POTUS if he's the nominee as well.
I'm not likely to vote for him in the primary, though.
But I'll keep an open mind and see how the campaigns go.

Big deal. He only had 2 Klingons. The other guy in the background had 5
I have never voted for a Republican but I am voting for Trump , can't stand him, must spite my spoiled white girl privilege , democrat man hating in-laws.
Its the ages of bloomberg, biden, and sanders that make me hesitate. There is a reason most people retire in their 60s,

Good read, backs up other recent articles I’ve read.
I am of the opinion that Biden will be competitive against Trump and could well beat him.
If Warren is the nominee then we’ll have four more years of Trump. It’s that simple.
I also think this is why the Trump campaign have invested so much time attacking Biden while leaving Warren and the others mostly alone. They also know that Biden is their biggest threat. You have give them credit, strategically they got the electoral college puzzle right three years ago.
If Democrats what to win back the White House they have to be more pragmatic and in some cases less idealistic.

Is it really that simple?
There is a huge build up of anti-Trump voters just waiting for November 3, 2020.
Warren has a path with AZ, MI, PA and FL which would be a large electoral win.
Yes, she can win Florida.
The elections since Trump have been elected have not been favorable to Republicans looking for Trump endorsements.
Trump campaigned against Roy Moore in the Alabama primaries and Moore won that.
Then he campaigned for Moore in the general and Moore lost that.
He rallied for the Kentucky governor last week and lost that.
Virginia has gone all blue throughout their legislature and they have a lot of rural areas outside of Northern Virginia and Richmond.
He ran Jeff Flake out of Alabama and they voted a Democrat to replace him.
Democrats flipped a net of 3 House seats in Pennsylvania last year and won the senate and governor elections.
Florida was a razor thin win for likable Republicans but Trump will have trouble with that changing demographic.
And we also have to see what comes out of these public impeachment hearings that most of the public really isn't following up until now.
Trump's main advantage is that this isn't 1974 where everyone watched the same news. They go to their favorite news source now.
AND look For Texas to at least be close, ESPECIALLY If Julian Castro is picked as a VP he is EXTREMELY POPULAR in Texas with BOTH Republicans and Democrats, even Beto O'Rourke as VP will make Texas close, but O'Rourke is only VERY POPULAR with Democrats, Republicans don't like him, that is why I think Castro will be VP Nominee to try to flip Texas.
