Why is this ? Why is looping the 200m track or a 400m track non stop for 2+ hours so mentally challenging as compared to the treadmill?

I'd take the 200m track every time over the treadmill.
A track is way easier IMO
I'd prefer a track myself, however, if you are doing 2hrs on a track please consider how much further you right leg is running compared to your left. It could be as much as 2 meters extra per lap.

I am surprised with the answers. Are you guys just saying it or have personally done it ? 2 hours on a 200m track with a 4 minute/km pace would be 150 laps!!
The treadmill is easier because you can look at things (TV, out the window, etc.) On a track you only look at the track.
I think the track is easier!
Most I have done on a track in a session is 19k (10 x 1k efforts, with a 1k jog recovery at a quick pace), so I haven't done 2 hours, but I really don't like being on treadmills and struggle with them
Who says it is?
Your opinion doesn’t mean it’s a fact.

Sorry Captain Planet . I guess i just wan't aware of it .
Treadmill=watch tv/movie, people walk by
Track=not a single other person in the facility
I've done around an hour on an indoor track before and it's pretty rough mentally. Treadmills are also not great if there's no assistance, but assuming you are at the gym there is lots of entertainment.
Treadmill is definitely better IMO
I would say track because I am outdoors and can try to find things to look at or just simply enjoy the weather. On the treadmill, there isn’t anywhere to look at except forward.
Since you’ve been bïtch-slapped by everyone, perhaps instead of making a blanket statement you could pose your thread as a question.
‘Is it mentally easier to run two hours on a track or on a treadmill?’
Hot chicks at the gym.
Why would anyone do either? Just go for a trail run if you are going that far.

Both feet should land in the same spot in front of you. Your right leg is not running further.
But there is a different torque on each hip. You should change directions now and the if you are running that long on a track.
It's much easier for me to run on the track. I haven't actually run 2 hours on either the treadmill or the track, but the track is much better for me. I've done a 15 mile run on the track. Was only 1h40 though, but i would never do that on a treadmill.
