It will be fun to watch him compete at 6'2" and 150 pounds. He will probably be 20 poubds heavier than any current runner breaking 13.
Here's the real question - does he have more potential than Patrick Tiernan?
Is it just me or do all these Aussies disappoint as professionals?

Ralph Douball, Herb Elliott, Kerry O'Brien, Ron Clarke, Craig Motram, Derek Clayton etc. did not have disappointing careers.

P-1 visa. They have to prove that they compete on an international level, sign with a U.S. agent, give a schedule that has some U.S. races on the circuit and work out formalities. Only catch is all your income has to come from track - you can't work sidelines. There's lawyers specializing in this, and the agent typically handles the process. Not cheap, but actually MUCH easier than many other visa forms. Someone like McDonald/Hull will have no issues getting it.
Once you get approved you can train with whatever coach and wherever you want, but are somewhat tied to your agent who is your "representative" for visa issues. Don't have to return home, but can. At least that was the deal ca. 2014 - assume Trump administration didn't change it.
Great explanation, thanks for the insight.
I think he said he was gonna stay in the US in a post race interview at ncaas

Rob DeCastella, Steve Monghetti and many more, and Austraiia has many more coming McSweyan, the 2 young 800 runers, Rayner and on and on.
I think he meant disappointing in no Olympic Medals. And we're talking about Aussie's that attend US schools. Great talents, but none have made the jump like Centro, Murphy, Rupp, Manzano, Flanagan, Coburn..

And how many top US runners didn't make the jump? Is Chris Derrick a noticeably better runner than the 27:31 guy he was in college? What about Erick Jenkins? And that isn't ment to be a criticism of them. Improving at the top end is hard. I think the list of runners that don't make the jump is vastly going to outnumber the ones that do.
Agree, but there have been absolutely ZERO Aussies that have made the jump to an Olympic medal since Ron Clarke's Bronze in 1964 in the 10,000m. Trust me, I'm from here. Great talents with Gregson, Buster, Mona, Deek. And yet, nothing at the Olympics and I believe it's because our season is too long. I'm always quite fit in Dec-Apr and you need to be fit come Sep/Oct.
and on the Women's side Lisa Martin in the Marathon Silver in 1988.
Some success at World Championships tho - medals to Deek, Mona, Mottram.
Mottram was on fire in 2006-2007. If he didn’t get hurt before the 07 champs it would be such a different story. That was the beginning of the end. He fell into a cycle of injuries.

Lisa Martin... poor Kenny but he got out of that.
Lisa Martin was a psycho and a doper. Awesome combination.
