Smart move by BTC. This reminds me of one of those college teams giving a scholarship to the little brother to get the big brother or hiring the dad as the assistant coach to get the prized recruit.
The big fish is Tom Ratcliffe's son, Thomas. So they throw a bone to Thomas friend Grant (who is represented by Tom) and Thomas will follow in a few years.
;) I'm saying this all with a smile on my face.
Because BTC really needs to be this calculated? smh. It's the most desirable group in distance running.

Wow, that seems like a huge mistake not going to Tinman elite, probably the best running group and coach in America.

Running group? More like a scientology cult lead by Ron Hubbard himself.... creepy tinman

add a massive pay cut to that

I guess it's not not very exciting news since few think he'll be a world beater. I mean what will his all time bests be when he's done? 3:31, 13:05, 27:10, 1:03, 2:09? Maybe a semifinal in an Olympics and a final in a world? I hate being a downer, but he's a great runner and a good guy that doesn't offer much to get excited about.
More like: 3:34, 13:08, 27:28, 1:02, 2:11
Can't predict if he will make a team or not.

He's saying 1:03 and 2:09 are not equivalent times.

I think EPO is a hell of a drug!

I agree that he doesn't have "all time great" written all over him, but I would be super stoked about any American running 3:31, 13:05, and 27:10. No American has PRs as fast or better at all 3 of those distances. Would be interested to see how his PRs stack-up against other US legends coming out of college (too lazy to look up myself).

A big pay cut would be WELL worth it to run with the tinman crew. Best coaching in the world mixed with the good group of guys they have there would no doubt lead to a very successful career for grant. Guess he decided to be risky and go to BTC.

Correct.
barf
Ok the Tin-man crew is pretty funny.
You have a chubby gym teacher re-selling Jack Daniels and exercise science like he invented it.
The guy has a good ammount of energy... but let’s not kid ourselves that he has invented some new form of secret training. There is no magic here...move on.
Keep The Ball Rolling is an incredibly obvious troll. Please stop responding to him.
Yay, Fisher. Excited to see what he can do with BTC and in faster races!

Interestingly, when he went to Stanford people said that Stanford was a path to burn out and injury. Now, people say the same thing about BTC. His consistency could change the thought about them like it did for Stanford.
Still wish he went to NOP though, that's my fav group by far.
I would like those times as PR’s
NOP has a lot of baggage.
Even if he thought NOP to be the better training situation, Fisher wouldn’t want to be guilty by association.
The best go to NOP. End of story.

Nike BTC won the sweepstakes landing Fisher.
Brooks has a Scottish star that an American audience and consumers won’t identify well with.
Reebok has a Canadian star that an American audience and consumers won’t identify well with.
Of these three American companies, Nike will have runners at world events wearing USA and all that comes with that.
Domestically, running fans and participants know who the American athletes are. Basic stuff really.
Nothing against these other fine athletes. If the shoe was on the other foot and Fisher lived and ran for an Australian company, would Australian support him the same or in a better way then their own countrymen?
Nike does it again wrote:

Canadians are just more passive aggressive colder Americans.
Scott's are easily identified with Americans. They hate the British, we hate the British. We like beer, they like beer. Etc.
And Australians are easily identified with Americans too.
