The group that picked up Grant would have known the strategic implications and therefore would have thought their recruiting approach out well. Understanding that, one would think Nike presented the best all around development, strategic, and financial fit for Fisher in Fishers mind. Safe to say he has a fairly strong mind. Therefore, who are we... the armchair coaches, want to be athletes but lacking the talent? Hopefully we are fans that support US track and field and will cheer on young American distance talent.
As a fan of the sport, I think Brooks would have been a great option and perhaps Reebok. But they list out to Nike for reasons only they and Fisher will know.
The US Army running group could never have been an option for Fisher - look who that group recruits.
