The Kiwi Tanner who is scheudle to go to UW next year ran 3:38.74 at the Brooks PR meet last week. That got me wondering if he's the #3 NCAA 1500/mile recruit in history behind Alan Webb and Jim Ryun?
Anyone else run faster before college?
Let's compile a list of sub-4 NCAA recruits in the mile (or 1500 equivalent) and then list how they did in college. I'll start but need some help filling it in.

Matthew Maton - 3:59.38 - Oregon Best xc finish was 29th. Made 1 individual NCAA indoor (9th) and outdoor (not make final) meet in his career. 3:38.62 collegiate pb for 1500.
Michael Slagowski - 3:59.53 Penn State/Eastern Oregon. Ran 1 race unattached for Penn State then left and eventually ended up at Eastern Oregon (an NAIA school), where he was the 2016 indoor mile runnerup. Collegaite best of 4:10.01 in the mile (3:59.94 in 1500).
The thread initially asked if he was the #2 recruit but we changed it to #3.
