My wife and I bought a house about 2 years ago in anticipation of our first child. We found a nice ranch in the suburbs that was built in the mid 80’s. We were excited to build our family and saw it as an investment.
2 years later I’m completely burnt out from this dream of owning a home. Compound interest is the biggest fraud in American history. Things are constantly breaking, and that maintenance required to stop a house from falling apart is absurd.
My weekends are filled with lawn care, broken valves and loose tiles, and not to mention the long process of winterizing your house in the fall. Then spending all spring preping the house for the summer.
On top of that you have the wife asking you to do DIY projects.
Whoever built this fantasy of home ownership should spend their days in jail.
Not to mention your hone value is completely dependent on other people taking care of their homes and selling them at a good price.
My wife wants to move into a bigger house. Nope we are paying this sucker off and moving into an apartment.
