Flotrack posted an article about this today. Kara Goucher called her a beast and that was taken as positive but an assassin is negative. One means that she is killing the competition but the other has no good meaning. A beast is a large ,ugly, nonhuman creature. If the youngest looking, shortest guy in the steeple was the winner, that would have come up in conversation and been taken as a positive. This has turned into a woman thing for no reason. There is way more discussion about the height and weight of men in sports than there is about women. Put a 7' or 5' quarterback on the field and that is all the media would talk about. The same with tennis or soccer or track. There is typically less disparity in the size of women so there is less opportunity to discuss it. I doubt Solinsky cared about the discussion surrounding his size but a large woman would go crazy today if she was winning 5ks and her size was brought up.
