16:18.57 - Kelsey CHMIEL
16:18.72 - Lydia RUSSELL
Chmiel the Sr. (going to UNC) led most all the race until the sophomore, Masciarelli, took it. Don't know the Russell girl from Pa. but a real nice time. Boys race 2 to go.
14:26.18 - Robbie COZEAN
14:28.95 - Caleb FUTTER

Masciarelli looked really strong and in control the entire race. Russell came out of nowhere. She is a junior and her 3200 PR is 10:39. She has never broken 19:00 in XC. That was quite a breakthrough race for her. Chmiel's 3200 PR is 9:59.
Elliott Mcarthur, rising freshman of Mounds View High in Minnesota (he was part of their NXN qualifying team last year) wins both the 2 mile JH and the 1 mile JH races.
In the JH mile race, Nathan Lopez went from 8th to distant 1st in the final lap, and then Elliott beat him right at the finish line. This is utterly insane. Zach Gilbertson, rising freshman who got 3rd in that race and 2nd in the 2 mile JH race is just about the same height as Elliott. And they both look like high school upperclassmen or college guys heightwise.
That Junior mile was definitely an exciting finish. I want to watch that one again.
