He may be a 5000 runner down the line, but I strongly disagree that she should run 5000s now. This year maybe at his peak he runs what -- mid 13:1x? Won't get into any DL races with that, nor will he make a US team. He was the 2nd fastest 1500m in the US last year, and is head and shoulders fitter this year.
He should stay at 1500 for 2019, 2020, 2021 with world's and olympics. He'll get fitter, faster at closing, and more experience in diamond league level fields. Then, if the time comes to move up to 5000 in 2022, that will only be his age 24 season.
We talking about the same guy who ran 3:39 last week?
Do you understand how racing in europe works? Is he going to run 3:35 right off of a 10 hour flight? You people are idiotic
Probably best that LRC board posters don’t coach Drew, as Tinman aka Coach Tom Schwarz has already stated Drew will develop at 1500 before moving up. The sensible plan for a 21 year old kid who ran 3:57 in high school.
Webb ran 8’11 for 2miles, 13’10/27’34 for 5k/10k - beating America’s best distance runners in those events. But he didn’t suddenly think he was a 5k runner.
I don't have time to do it right now, but it would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparisons of good runners year by year.
Hunter is a 3:35, 7:39, 13:21.18 guy already. Was a stud in high school, great 2-miler and XC runner. That's basically a better runner than Justyn Knight (CAN) on paper.
I'd like to see Tegenkamp, Solinsky, Fisher, Hill, Jenkins, Ritz, etc etc compared on a big spreadsheet each year of their careers.
Hunter is the real deal as he is only a 21-year old with some impressive pb's that most college juniors/redshirt soph's wouldn't normally have. Some have written this already but it's worth repeating.

Having raced in Europe, yes I do understand. I don't see any results he's had thus far as indicating that he's "head and shoulders fitter this year", though. 7:39 is good but it isn't 3:33 good.

You don’t get it, and I will leave it at that.
One of the essential traits intelligent people possess: they are able to change their views, they are able to accept it when proven wrong.
You are totally lacking there.
What a pity you came back to LRC. This place was much better without buffoons like you or Armweaklivs.
Once again your post is out of all proportion to the occasion.
Have I done something to offend you personally, that is causing you to stalk every one of my posts and respond with naked ad hominem?
If so, then out with it, so that we can clear the air. If not, I will have to ignore all of your posts in the future. I realized before my last post that you are here only to be contradictory and pick a fight, but I’m curious if you have a good reason for your behavior.
If so, man up and let’s hear it.

Deer Nike. Thanks for being so lazy, it is fun to watch all athletes in the exact same uniform. Way to grow the sport.
Not the biggest Nike fan, but at least they actually sponsor athletes. Up in Canada they are pretty much the only people giving base salary to mid d/distance athletes. Brooks have all but pulled out up here, New Balance are tossing free shoe deals to young decent collegiates/post college kids, Reebok have J Knight and Ben Flanagan but that's it. At least they are investing up there.
They should keep doing that. Is it too much to ask that athletes in the same race don't all have the exact same uniform with exact same colors? Looks like a team time trial, not very spectator friendly. You want to showcase Jakob, don't treat him like a basic stock car. Spend a couple dollars on his singlet.

I think winning a US title and PRing by 20+ seconds at 3k and 5k would count as head and shoulders fitter.
Man up, says the anonymous poster.

You're probably right, it is probably just all of the Smalahove and Torrfisk they eat. You know, kind of like the Ma Junren and his soft turtle soup. Over 28 Olympiads Norway has had 3 Olympic medalists in running events. Suddenly in 2018/2019 they are producing top level talent in numerous running events. Must be global warming or something Torrfisky is going on in Norway.
long road ahead for drew, AR? 12:53 is honestly possible eventually. he's showing no signs of slowing down

Henrik isn't on whatever Karsten is, that's for sure. He knows how to handle setting a NR.
oh everyone at top leval is on various cocktails of drugs.thats what makes the sport interesting, and fun.watching lab experiments, and cyborgs doing their thing.
Seb Coe was in the house. Thought it odd that the first question the on-field announcer asked him was, "What's track & field doing about climate change?"
