The sport doesn’t have the time, money, infrastructure etc to be super fan contact and promotional. What the NFL, NBA,MLB etc can do and does with their athletes is a whole other ball game.
Perspective - I’d say just the stadium operations of your average Triple-A baseball team has more $ than all of USATF.
By its nature, Track is not the best fan sport. Nobodies fault. Just the way it is.
Every other sport you can see your favorite athlete competing hours on end, daily, weekly, monthly- showing their personality and emotion.
Track.... maybe a half dozen races yearly, the best we get is a couple minutes of race video and a typical post race interview if your guy wins.
Deal with it.
The individual pro training groups are VERY proactive and doing the best they can to engage their fans and promote the sport (if you’ve been paying attention).
