Do not watch Jim Rome. I decided that many, many years ago.
Obnoxious, just like our women's soccer team.

As someone said, it's like a 410 miler beating a 4:45 miler in 4:20 and then acting like they broke 4:00. Awful.
It's a bad comparison. Unlike your scenario, US women actually set a record for most points in a world cup match. Keep in mind there have been dozens of bad teams before, so no this record was not a "soft" record otherwise someone else would have got it before.
So it's more like Donavan Brazier opening his season at a low-key meet in 1:42.9 -- fastest time ever run in May, a record just like this max-points record. According to you, would Brazier not be morally "allowed" to celebrate after a monster season debut like that??

If the men did this I think the reaction would be even worse so to say it's sexist I think is just ridiculous.
Give a high five and run back to the halfline. FIFA should say any goal differential over 5 doesn't count so their isn't incentive to run it up.
If the men did it and it was just a routine blowout, nothing recordbreaking about it, then I'd agree. But nobody is mentioning that this was actually a record-breaking performance, and the US women actually overperformed expectations by a lot in the match which is a great sign going forward. Yes, it's a "meaningless" record, just like all early season track meets are technically "meaningless" because the end goal is always going to be global champs. But you can still celebrate if you open your season in a PR or, a more suitable comparison imo, a world best for that month.
Wow; thanks captain obvious. Also; not always true in every circumstance. Also; lol at Jordan Peterson educating you to the fact that males tend to be more aggressive.
And one last thing since I’m trolling the forums tonight. Any of you who are poo-pooing the women’s team for their boastful behavior need to take that outrage if you care so much and direct it towards our head government officials. It’s a new era ladies and gentlemen. Us ‘adults’ need to set the standard for everyone from the bottom-up. What example is our president setting for our young generation?
You’re being aggressive. You must be male. Or the outlier female.
Troll away

Yes; Jordan Peterson taught me I have a biological predisposition to be aggressive and fight against human rights. It’s only natural.
The Rapinoe celebration was rediculous. I said to myself "is this rediculous? yes, it's rediculous."
That's how I knew.
If the men did this it would be even more rediculous and everyone would in my mind be angrier so you can't say it's sexist if you do that's just rediculous.
celebrate like a man for trump's sake! you women you.
FIFA should say "any goal differential over 5 doesn't count so they're isn't incentive to run it up."
And i would say "that's good because that its not rediculous."
If it was sexist then it would have been sexist. But it wasn't sexist so it wasn't.
Well at least they didn't do this:

Did it ever occur to you that it may have been a record because no other team dared to humiliate another team infront of the world? Its an unspoken rule of sportsmanship...you can stop at 6 maybe 7 and thatd be enough to prove to Thailand that they could invest more in developing female soccer.
I remember watching the US team play....the same team that won the cup for the first time. At the time their were many countries that had entered women's teams that probably could've been beaten by most US D1 some prob D3 teams. China and US could have crushed any of those teams with uncontrollable scoring but they didn't. It's a cultural shift in the sport, an ego shared amongst the coach and players.
I should say I remember watching in the stands when I was younger right when the sport was developing for us girls soccer. I remember watching a match before the us was to play thinking wow those teams are not real great. But even though there were other teams that clearly had invested more they never crushed the developing ones.
Well, the US aren't the only ones celebrating goals after the games are out of reach. Here is Italy today after going up 4-0 against Jamaica:
Just when I thought the goalies had been a bit slack, the Argentine goalie was MVP in the loss to England. Several saves including a PK.

Letsrun is on its 8th page talking about this women's soccer team.
They have become stars with this celebration. $$$$$$ will follow.
Here’s an idea: don’t disgrace the premier event of the world’s premier sport by showing up with a team that can be beaten 13-0. Reminds me of the pre- standard days when the national champion of some minor country would block the track running 6 min miles in the 10,000 heats. And yeah, Germany beat Brazil 7-1, but that was a fluke and no one doubts Brazil had a world class team.
It's sad that, in American society today, one cannot criticize the conduct of a women's soccer team without automatically being branded a sexist.

I am pretty liberal, and I don't think criticizing this team means you are sexist.

A better comparison would be a basketball team flexing and smack talking after throwing down dunks and raining 3's when up 40 points against a team that has given up.
This might resonate with some of us old farts. Anybody else remember the first Dream Team (1992, I think it was)? Most of those games were close until the opening tipoff, then not so much. And some of the DTers absolutely were in their hopelessly outmatched opponents' faces, celebrating dunks, yada. TBH the crowd (and, from what I could see, the opponents) loved it.
