Looking back at the past ten years:
The disparity in the league is stunning on the men's side.
Army and Navy are the dominant forces now, as they should be with their resources and reputations.
Boston, Lehigh, and Bucknell are the best of the rest. I believe Boston is fully funded, Lehigh has 1 scholarship, and Bucknell has none. Parity has decreased significantly since Boston's entry into the league in Fall 2013; is Boston causing this disparity, or have Navy and Army just elevated themselves significantly?
The Patriot League sets roster limits (12 for XC, 32 indoor, 35 outdoor which is up from 32 earlier in the decade), so the track scores are not just a matter of Navy and Army fielding bigger rosters.
Depth does help, and the league went from 6 to 8 place scoring when Boston and Loyola entered the league, so the differences between the top and bottom teams have been inflated.
You could argue that it's just Bucknell that's gone downhill in track, and that Lehigh had an outlier class when they won XC in 2013 and almost won in 2014 (their top two, Tyler Mueller and Ryan Mahalsky both ran around 14:00 for 5k, and they went 1-2-3 in a distance event at Patriot League indoors one year).
