Your body is likely in a chronic state of starvation. You have to consistently feed it enough (caloric surplus) for a long enough period of time for your body to no longer think it's in a period of food scarcity.
I highly recommend working with a sports dietician who specializes in eating issues - it will probably shock you how much food you need to adequately fuel your body based on your activity, age, and height.
I wouldn’t consider myself “starved”, as I do intake a decent amount of calories per day (at least 3k). I was just wondering if perhaps I needed more.
You do need to eat more. You've been asking some variation of that question on these forums for months. I searched the forums for you user name and found AT LEAST TWO FULL PAGES of results of unique threads that you started, all dealing with calories, miles and weight. I hope you can step back and see that is not normal and you don't have to live like that. Please please get help.
That feeling of losing control and starting to "over-eat" is actually your body crying out for more food. It's not actually over-eating. You'll want to fight it because it feels scary, but you really do need to eat that much. It's called re-feeding, You almost definitely have been in a chronic state of starvation/calorie deficit for a long time. Screw the number of calories as a daily target. A normal, healthy human being without food issues probably eats a crazy range of calories any given day over weeks. The difference is they are eating intuitively to fuel their body without fighting it and it all balances out and their weight stays relatively stable and they have energy to run high mileage.
