Young LDS adults are every bit as much rebels as most young adult christians, only more so because there is so much more to rebel against! You should see their crazy off-campus parties.

Only Catholics are Christian and everybody knows that.

How many qualifiers/medals in NCAA this year or ever?
From 2000-2003 BYU women had an individual NCAA champion in the following events:
2003 Kassi Anderson Steeplechase 9:45.00
2002 Michaela Mannova Steeplechase 9:45.90
2001 Elizabeth Jackson Steeplechase 9:49.70
2000 Tara Northcutt 10000 Meters 33:49.2
Scored 46 points for the 4th place finish in outdoor track in 2000.
The women were national champions in XC in 97, 99, 01 and,02
I would hope to see both Casey Klinger and Aiden Troutner continue to do well in the NCAA after they get back in shape post-mission and both could very likely continue into pro careers. Klinger is a 2x NXN champion and Troutner out kicked phenom Brodie Hasty to win the 2017 NXN. Former Olympian and 2x 5,000 and 10,000 NCAA champion (1985?), Ed Eyestone, is a fantastic coach and has a great relationship with this team. My guess is Jared Ward will likely continue his coaching tradition someday since he is already employed as a BYU professor of Statistics. Eyestone continues to be Jared Ward's coach and Ward continues to train once or twice a week with the BYU distance guys. I look for great things to come for several more years at BYU with their distance program.

This is like saying the Amish are huge rebels because they are allowed to temporarily see what non Amish life is like
No! That's how the amish avoid having their kids rebel.
Other much stricter religions produce way out extremist rebels. The catholics for example resulted in Madonna and the Marquis de Sade. The orthodox produced Vlad the Impaler.
The Irish runners were far better......Coghlan 3:49.....John Treacy 2x world cross country champion, 2nd place Olympic marathon, Ray Flynn 3:49, Marcus O'Sullivan over 100 sub 4 minute miles.... John Hartnett 8:29 Villanova 2miler......
From a country with only 4 milliion people.......Reason????? Genetics, hard training.
Entirely unsurprising that BYU has only produced male runners of note.

Sigh. Except, you know, those multiple NCAA XC champion women.

You're kidding. The best runner at byu this year was a woman... Erica Birk-Jarvis
Pekka Vasala of Finland was the 1972 Olympic Champion at 1500 he went to BYU.[/quote
_______________--
Lasse Viren went there too and ran poorly until he returned home to Finland.
Religion, location, no. Lydiardism, yes.
Yes, there is a mormon community in Alberta. Raymond.
They always have a competitive high school football team. They've won the provincial championship many times at the highest level, competing against the big schools.
And they are a small town with maybe 2000 people.
Sometimes they don't have enough players on their team so the players play offence and defence.
And guess what, other teams with maybe 50 players would complain about that, all because they were getting beat by a small yet disciplined team.
However, Agberto Guimaraes, Lasse Viren, and that Pekks guy were not LDS. Both Lasse and Agberto didn't stay at BYU for very long.

GTFO of here bro.
You honestly think that all of those Mormon kids are 100% sober? Have you ever met one?
Come on, brah. Be real.

No, but the ones that are running at BYU are.

And what have BYU women done post-college?
This whole thread should be deleted. It violates the religious persecution standards by being anti-Christian. The authors imply that mormons are superior to Christians and every other religion when the opposite case is the fact.
Another thing is that Utah's mineral-rich hard water might cause them to grow up with stronger bones more able to handle training volume without injury. A lot of them probably also grow up at high altitude in the many mountains of Utah and Idaho.
BYU owes their success to the Maffetone method: long miles at low HR...
They get walking mileage in knocking on doors and delivering pamphlets.
