No win situation for byu. Fortunately, this board isn't real life. Real life brought 1/3/4 in the 10k...4 qualified to final in steeple...1 to final in 1500.

Meh. Henry Rono was a 24-year-old freshman when he won NCAA XC in 1976. Suleiman Nyambui was 25 when he enrolled as a freshman at UTEP.

I hadn't thought of it this way, but if the NCAA did have a rule where you can no longer compete at age 24+ (or after 5 years of high school graduation), BYU would have gone 1,2 as both McMillan and Mantz are within the typical 5 year period.

Okay, so I have never been a huge fan of BYU. Never really liked the age thing or that they seem to talk a lot of trash. But honestly lets give them their due. Was the field a bit watered down? Sure. But those top three guys got it done. Go watch Gault's interview with Clayton Young - he's a good dude and he achieved a dream tonight. Connor Mantz looked like he was falling off at like 4 miles, but grinded all the way. He is a tough SOB. Give these guys a little credit.

Does anyone know what heat preparations the BYU guys did?? It looked like Young was wearing something on his wrists during the race. Were those cooling bracelets? Or something else. Whatever they did seemed to work great and put up a very impressive performance.

Not a byu fan either. However, one thing I do like is that they DON'T seem to talk trash. I saw plenty of that from NAU the last couple of years, but not much out of byu.

Wow, you sure? Take out BYU's top 3 guys and you still have the 12th, 18th and 20th spots at nationals in the 10k.

That's 3 in the top 20 nationally no other program could say that. I believe that could merit some kudos. So kudos to you BYU minus the top 3.

Keep on laughing then. Two of those guys were on no ones radar at the beginning of the season yet made it to nationals.

Guess who finished dead last in last year's 10K national championships race? Conner Mantz, Clayton Young, and Rory Linkletter. One year later, and 2 of the 3 finished in the top 4.

Byu has a chance to win the whole meet if their guys continue to perform. Most likely about 5th.
