Given Schumacher just had his third athlete (Mo Ahmed) break 13:00 in the 5 km, that is something Fisher will take very seriously.

Now that NCAA’s are over; Nike and Brooks will be competing in a big way for Fisher.
Both organizations dislike each other - in a well documented way.
As other posters have stated, Fisher is the top US distance runner to come along in a long time. It will take other shoe company’s a lot of money to beat out those two organizations desire, beyond talent and potential of Fisher, to get Fisher.
He will go home.
How will he go home? Devastated!!

Is Eric Jenkins not American?
Looking at Fishers NCAA times, he's basically Trevor Dunbar with a better kick. Their NCAA PRs are almost perfectly matched. No one was calling Trevor the second coming of American distance running when he graduated. I think Fisher just came to college closer to his peak than most. He's consistent and a savvy racer for sure, and seems like a really solid dude, but why all the hype for a guy barely breaking 13:30 and 3:40? Seems like we are setting ourselves up. Didn't Rupp almost run 13:30 in high school?
He's good, but he's no German Fernandez.

Grant has another season of indoor eligibility.
In an interview earlier this year, he stated he will consider staying in school as a 5th year grad student to get another degree, run 2020 indoor track, and continue to train with Miltenberg and the current stable of Stanford runners through the Olympic Trials.
Everything has worked out quite well for him these past 4 years so another year doing the same might be his best option.
At NCAAs Grant strongly indicated he was going pro. He said it would be a pretty big ask to just come back for Indoors and was pretty much decided he was going pro.
Unintelligent response that I will take the bait on.
Now where did I say anything about Eric Jenkins. But on him, he is good, was good in university, and ran differently being pulled along by Cheserek.
Fisher races to win. He has been in the mix every race he enters. Some times he wins other times he just shy but still on the podium. Very few times has he been in a fast race. His only fast paced race this year was Millrose games where two Australians pulled the pace and Fisher won in a new US collegiate record time eclipsing Rupps time by over 2 seconds. Or at indoors in the DMR where he was way back and had to run through nine guys to get to the front. He split 3:54 but got nipped at the end by a guy that is a 1500 m speacialist when ran 2 seconds slower. That race may have cost him the indoor 3k title but he sacrificed for team. He has never gone to Europe in the off season while in college. Probably to take summer classes or just have a rest after his seasons and classroom emphasis.
Well documented that Fisher left high school under trained in the 35 - 55 mile range and while in college it is well known his coach didn’t get greedy with him. In fact, wherever he pursues his pro career, that coach will have to bring Fisher up slowly.
German Fernandez was wasted by overtraining in high school, ran very well for half of his collegiate career, then became injury prone and unfortunately didn’t pan out in his pro career. I was always a big fan of Fernandez. Those that are over trained in high school are a long list and Fisher is not on that list.
Come on man understand the sport.
Correction “where did it say anything about Eric Jenkins”
Are you nuts? GF was about the most undertrained guy there ever was in high school. His problems started when he decided to become a vegetarian. Anemia followed by one injury after another ended what could have been the greatest American ever. Saw him run 3:55 solo as a true freshman indoors. The entire crowd was stunned.

Damn...I put it in bold and everything. You really can't piece it together?

OTC is not the place for Grant. Don't know why they have been struggling. Ben, Hassy, and Amos seem to be carrying the torch, but no where near the clout of 2008-2015 reign (ie. Symmonds, Wheating, Eaton)
They do have Hassy, Trouard, and Farrell, but all three have not produced much this year. Hassy will run fast later this year, that is just how he rolls, he is a class act. Trouard.. has he raced yet, i'm not sure? Farrell clearly is going through some mental woes, hopefully he gets through it. He can run faster than 13:11 if he gets over his imaginary injury/plateau or whatever
OTC is full of dead dogs. BTC for sure.
really? i have to explain it to you? wrote:

No I couldn’t interpret what goes through your mind, it is your responsibility to communicate your thought clearly when posting. Nowhere did you state Eric Jenkins name.
Not wanting to knock Eric Jenkins. He is a very good US runner and it is my hope he has a breakthrough year this summer and next. He was always in the shadow of Cheserek yet the benefit to that was him running fast times because Cheserek ran fast most every race he was in. Cheserek, for a variety of reasons, was able to dominate while in University. In fact, one of Fishers fastest races was when he was a freshman in the NCAA 5,000 m final where Cheserek ran the fastest final ever (I think) and young Fisher was dragged to running 13:30 (the second or third fastest US Junior time ever I think).
Given your sarcastic post... I’ll enlighten you. Eric Jenkins was born November 24, 1991 that makes him 27 years old now he will be 28 this November. Jenkins turned pro when he graduated in summer 2015.
Grant Fisher turned 22 the end of April. When Fisher is 27 going on 28 he will have set the US 5,000 m record.
I hope Fisher goes to Europe this summer for the first time, gets in some fast races where he is pulled to running fast times. He likes to sit and kick and put himself in position to win races and treats all his races this way. I am convinced when put in a race with really fast guys strung out from the start that he can run 13:15 or faster right now if he is feallying fresh after his NCAA seasons.
To the original post: my guess is Fisher goes with Schumacher’s group, trains with his Stanford teammate and friend Sean McGorty ( who by the way is one of the top young US distance prospects). BTC is the best place for Fisher if Nike gives him a good contract. Schumacher has coached three guys under 13 minutes for the 5,000 m. I am sure Fisher has that capability and wants the US record. Brooks and Reebok will offer him great contracts as well. Both are young groups moving in a strong direction. Reebok has Knight who just ran 13:09, a very fast time from a very talented runner who Fisher tussled with in college. That group needs more talent and US talent if it hopes to gain traction as a legitimate training group they have just started so who knows. Brooks has been progressively getting better and has a strong group of 1500 m guys that can go 5km as they mature. And now with Josh Kerr who has recently showman great range 1:46 800 m and 13:26 5km they too need US talent. The other shoe company’s don’t seem to have strong groups to train with and are more individual athlete focused and probably don’t have the budget to compete in that arena. Those that could have the budget; NB doesn’t really have a men’s group and Under Armor to date hasn’t formed one.
This was too long and I didn't read all of it, but I think the point was Jenkins is nothing spectacular. Jenkins is good but he lacks the potential to be great. Fisher was a far better collegian than Jenkins and his potential is much, much higher. Fisher is likely the most talented US long distance prospect since Rupp.

Jerry’s athletes are busted up but the Beasts are worse. The Beasts have 3 guys that run further than 1500. Maggard, Vail, and Heath. 100% of them are currently hurt.
Agree with your statement.
Ya, Fisher is likely the best US distance prospect since Rupp.
Wishing him well, fast times, medals. And a healthy pursuit of his athletic dreams.
Fisher is an inspiration to young and old. He is a good looking well put together dude, interviews better than any other runner I have listened to and is highly marketable.
Good luck Grant Fisher wrote:

Good looking? Better looking than Rupp or about the same? Better looking than Evan Jaeger? How about in comparison to Jakob Ingi...whatever?

With Sean and other Stanford grads with Bowerman, there is a high likelihood of Grant Fisher will be with Bowerman after graduating.
The only other place I see him going is NOP. He did nominate Alberto Salazar for the ALS ice bucket challenge years back, but that could mean anything.
https://www.instagram.com/p/r8QfLxrLqJ/I personally Alberto will give Grant the tools he needs to succeed at the higher level, as his coaching is much more personal and precise.
I get the vibe that Bowerman is a survival of the fittest with high mileage. Great team environment, but I don't think that is what Grant needs.
Now that we know Grant Fisher went to BTC, who on this thread was right and who was wrong?
Fisher made a great choice, Nike got a great athlete that already has celebrity status in track and field. Hope he received a great contract.
lol
