Where will Grant Fisher Go?

This is true.

If Fisher goes to Bowerman or anywhere else, he will be a 13:10 guy who might win a couple US titles throughout his career.

If he goes to NOP, he would grow into a 12:55 guy who medals at Olys/WCs.

Grant has another season of indoor eligibility.

In an interview earlier this year, he stated he will consider staying in school as a 5th year grad student to get another degree, run 2020 indoor track, and continue to train with Miltenberg and the current stable of Stanford runners through the Olympic Trials.

Everything has worked out quite well for him these past 4 years so another year doing the same might be his best option.

Where ever he go's if he dosent increase his 5000 PR he will have to move up in distance. It is hard to make a living in pro track as a 23 year old/ 13:29 guy.

You don’t know what you are talking about.

Fisher turned 22 the end of April.

He ran 13:29 as a training run in April off of a slow pace with a solo 4:04 last mile close.

Right now, in the right race circumstance, he would easily break 13:20 and most likely go under 13:15.

He really hasn’t been in a fast race to see what he can do except for his freshman year NCAA 5k when Cheserek took the pace hard and he ran the third fastest US junior time in history. This year at the Melrose Games where he set the US collegiate indoor 3k record breaking Rupp record by a couple of seconds was a good indication. All of his other races have been tactical championship style races.

His potential is massive and his appeal is obvious. Every professional running group in the US knows this and wants him.

someone said this in an earlier post a few days ago, but my prediction is that he will race indoor next year and then will quit running. He is too smart to become a pro distance runner. He certainly has potential but he will also have a degree from Stanford and probably has figured out that pro distance running may last a few years before he and his body tire of it all.

He is too smart not to go for it based on all that he has done and the greater potential he has.

Why not use his physical talents and be a pro runner for 5 or more years then use his metal talents for the rest of his life?

It isn’t like he will park his brain at the door, not meet people and not create future opportunities during his time as a pro runner.

How many people in the world have a legitimate shot at being an Olympian, winning medals at big time meets? Fisher does.

Home most likely. His PR's are mediocre for any decent Pro-Career. I'd honestly be shocked if Bowerman or NOP took him.

On the plus side he's got an electrical engineering degree from Stanford. Thats got to be worth an easy 100k+ right off the bat at whatever job he gets.

No mention of Rowland!!!

OTC is not the place for Grant. Don't know why they have been struggling. Ben, Hassy, and Amos seem to be carrying the torch, but no where near the clout of 2008-2015 reign (ie. Symmonds, Wheating, Eaton)

They do have Hassy, Trouard, and Farrell, but all three have not produced much this year. Hassy will run fast later this year, that is just how he rolls, he is a class act. Trouard.. has he raced yet, i'm not sure? Farrell clearly is going through some mental woes, hopefully he gets through it. He can run faster than 13:11 if he gets over his imaginary injury/plateau or whatever

Based on his 7:42 indoor 3k if he is at that shape now he could run 13:10 if the competition is there and the pace is fast

Bottom line is nobody knows. Maybe he does not know. But obviously he is a very smart and driven young man. Hopefully h becomes a professional runner and can see how good he can be. Whatever he does he will be successful

Mind boggling times really.

Pre wasnt near such times when he turned 22 and he is a legend. And he was most likely trained much harder then Fisher at the same age.

He will go to NOP and Salazar will train him to carry his arms higher.
