52.7 split to win the 4x4. Crazy performance after a very long season of running fast

Quietly Willis won BU 800 m in 2:06.51 2 weeks ago to open her season.
Right from XC to travelling across the country to compete against pros. Be cautious, it is a lot for a 15 year old from small town Wisconsin.
Look at #2, Sophia Gorriaran. She ran 2:08 twice last year as an 8th-grader. I'm looking forward to many years of apocalyptic predictions and self-righteous proclamations here about her coach, her parents, and her future.
Roisin Willis is not your typical 15 year old. #1 She inherited an Olympian spring in her legs from her amazing Irish mother #2 She may have sincere aspirations to qualify for the trials next summer and gain valuable exposure before her next bid in 2024

I wish there was more discussion around it, this looks like it’ll be one of the fastest and most competitive years for the high school girls’ 800m.
Between Mu, Willis, Michaela Rose and a few 2:05/2:06 runners I expect to see at least 2 girls under 2:03 this year.
Then we have the freshmen too. I expected Cha’eil Johnson to be the lone freshman this year, but it looks like Sophia Gorriaran is already making a statement with a 2:08.5 in the same race as Willis. Assuming they both stay healthy, I could seem them both entering the 2:05 range this outdoor.

Not exactly across the country. Milwaukee to Boston is barely over 2 hours (Stevens Point is a couple hours from Milwaukee). Not really racing pros at that first BU meet. Other kids at her level were running NXN/Footlocker, both of which would be more travel.
You can downplay it but it is not the same as continuing the XC season one additional week against high schoolers. She ran an 800 which is much different and she competed against collegiates and pros. You may think it is a good idea but it has not turned out well for most who went down this path instead of a traditional one.

Yes, that makes the decision even worse.

Awesome. So it's ok to travel for cross country regionals and nationals (2-4 trips, 2-4 races with 4 hour flights) but it's not ok to take a 2 hour flight to race your preferred distance on a fast track? There were NO professionals in the 800. And the college competition was equal to a strong high school race. Most likely, they wanted some better competition so she didn't have to lead wire to wire. Wisconsin has no real indoor season (just a couple quality meets), so she can run the national meets, race sparingly and get ready for outdoor with a peak in the summer.
