This was 20 years ago. I was on my deck, grilling dinner on a Saturday evening. It was summer, and this was in a large Midwestern city. I don't drink.
Above, north, I noticed something in the sky moving east to west. It was an otherwise clear day, but there were clouds around and near this thing, which was a long triangle-shaped, grey or dirty-looking aircraft, close enough that I could see steam or something venting from places on it, but it was unclear how far up in the sky it was. There were details visible, but the speed it was moving made no sense, given what I could see. It was like how you can see a plane coming for a landing, and it appears not to be moving fast at all, only this was nearly directly overhead, it was just sort of hovering.
There were no wings on the thing, it was just a long triangle thing, sort of like a spacecraft from a TV show, but not. There were several things just "off" about it, which I can't put into words.
I watched for maybe 20 seconds, then ran inside where the TV was. The weather was on, and the weather guy was saying how the phones were ringing off the hook, that people were reporting something in the sky, then they went to commercial. When the commercials were over, the news came back on. They said nothing about anything in the sky.
I went back outside, and I could see a cloud in the sky to the west, but nothing else.
