So last night I was reading an interesting article by Kenyan journalist Mutwiri Mutuota where he reminisced about the great Sammy Wanjiru on the 8th year anniversary of his death and mentioned how few even remembered it was the anniversary of his death. In the piece, Mutuoa wrote the following.
That blew me away. Could that possibly be true?
I've been friendly with Mutuota for years so I emailed him to make sure that wasn't a typo. Here's what he wrote back.
So LetsRun what do you think? Is there any chance he actually did that? Or is it just part of his legend.
By the way, in case you didn't know, Kipchoge was a big Wanjiru fan.
“I dedicate this gold medal to Wanjiru. Studying the way he ran the marathon taught me so much,” said Kipchoge.
