Quality fields have gathered, six of the top 30 ranked road running women and four of the top 26 men plus some handy marathoners. Should I write some profiles?

Ok, be back later. Thanks.
Course record for women is held from last year of 31.19 by Agnes Jebet Tirop, 23yo and ranked 25. Agnes also won bronze on the track in the 2017 World champs 10000.
And the record overall of 27.44 looks set to tumble with seven quicker in other places and some quality half marathoners who could find this shorter distance and the deep competition a great recipe for their success.

One quicker over this distance in another city is Geoffrey Koech, 25yo and ranked 21.
In 2018 he was second in Prague in 27.18. Just this last April he returned to that city to finish 4th in a half in 60.30. His best time over that distance is 59.50, 7th in Copenhagen in 2017.

The top ranked women’s road runner is entered here, Netsanet Gudeta, 28yo. Won Valencia half last year in 66.11 then was second, recording the same time of 65.45 at RAK. That joint time is the Ethiopian record.

I believe the runs are held an hour apart and the women may be away in 55 min from now, so I will do as many profiles of as many females as I can fit in. Then the men.

The winner of the RAK half and therefore the other joint national record holder is here, too. Senbere Teferi, ranked 16 and 24yo, was second here last year: three seconds behind. Also made her debut at the classic distance last year in Dubai, 9th in 2.24.11.
At 20yo and ranked 12, Tsehay Gemechu, is my pick to win this. Won in Valencia earlier this year in the quickest time since the world record was set in “the battle of Prague” in 2017. Gemechu won the Delhi half last year in 66.50.
A gap between these top 4 and the rest unless the class of the girls that finished second and third at the world cross country can be converted to this quite different battleground. The other chance is Rose Chelimo, who was 6th in the chaos of last year’s London Marathon. Men next.
What did you think about the Sydney half this morning?

Can a marathoner who is subjectively ranked in the top ten in his craft at this time, step down to 10k and compete? That is the question for Birhanu Legese who is 24yo. Second here last year, fifth here both 2015 and 2017; all in around a minute outside the course record.
Halfway in the women’s, 9 together on 36.14 pace
Eight together at7.5k, dropped chelimo, much faster

In case I don’t get home to comment, other men are m.kimeli and obzilen.
