This happens all the time. It happened to me as the assistant in 1990, 91. The head coach had no clue about distance running. I did all the workouts. I explained to the distance runners why they were doing this workout or that, and they started to get excited, saying things like "this is the first time we've ever had this type of structure.." Yet at the end of the season, the state recognized him as, and I quote "The Cross Country Coach of the Year!" He accepted the award. Never mentioned me. Took all the credit. That was my first year. I learned from that. Be the bigger person. As a runner or outsider of the team, you can let everyone know in your own way.
