I thought this board is supposed to be a source of serious, educational discourse.

You’re, a, prick.
Have you talked with your doc about it? Hormonal BC shouldn’t affect your iron levels - copper might due to increased menstrual blood loss, but I’ve yet to see anything suggest hormonal does the same.
If you’ve got issues with levonorgestrel, maybe look into switching to Kyleena since it’s a Lower does? Ive used Mirena for several years agree it’s not a perfect solution, but better than the alternatives. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Have you and a female partner ever consistently used the pull out for an extended period of time and gotten pregnant? We’ve been doing it for 8 months, and have had no pregnancy. I went and got tested at the fertility clinic, and they said my sperm are healthy. I don’t know what the ideal medical definition of it would be. Simply saying my sperm are fertile?
No, because we were never that stupid.
You need to be careful if you decide to take birth control pills. Some of them will actually lower your testosterone level. I was on the pill for 7 years while competing at a high level. It was convenient as I didn't have periods while on it, and not because I was amenorrhiac. This was great for competing. Unfortunately, I was having a hard time recovering from hard workouts, so my doctor tested my testosterone level. It was extremely low. My gynecologist told me that she often prescribed the pill to women who had high testosterone levels, so they could lower it so they wouldn't have so much body hair. Most women athletes need all of the testosterone their bodies naturally produce!
Best way to avoid pregnancy is by running away.

Internet tough guy here that is afraid to post under a registered name.
You really are a piece of trash and a coward.
OP -
You have a couple of easy decisions:
Do you want to run fast, with your "normal" biology? If yes, then don't take any drugs for birth control.
Your options at that point are:
- Abstinence (also a bonus because of less drama in your life) -
- Mutual masturbation
- Condoms for the guy (not 100% reliable)
- Rhythm or Pulling out - yeah, sure...putting your faith in a calendar or the ability of a pre-orgasmic boy to keep his wits about him and pull out - don't do that.
I didn't read all the posts on this one; so if this is redundant, sorry.

Hey girls, this is an unusual post but I thought this would be a good place to get some advice from other athletes. I've had a hormonal IUD for about 2 years and it's been nothing but hell..constant spotting and cramps. I need to find an alternative that won't affect my athletic performance or deplete my iron as I am a competitive college runner. Copper IUDs are out because of iron, and I've kind of had it with IUDs in general. I have heard horror stories from friends about the pill as well, but if you've had a good experience with one I'm totally open to trying it. Any advice (besides abstinence lol) is appreciated.
Or...... instead of drugging yourself you could stop raw-dogging every Chad and Tyrone on campus.
Birth Control disrupts a woman's natural hormones and alters a woman's brain chemistry.
Not to mention the fact that you'll be labeled as a, uh, floozy, to put it lightly.
I would never date a women on the pill. I enjoy not having STDS.
The "raw-dogger" is the male. Your choice of phrasing betrays your true sexual preference.

Nope, it's a phrase meaning doing it without protection.
