Nope. Never happened.
Darrell Robinson could have, off of 44.69 FAT capability.

Are you a librarian or something?
Nope. Just a coach. Everyone was thinking it. But the PA announcer? At a HS State Meet? Come on...
So what is wrong with saying that?

A kid (Henry Thomas) from CA split 44.5. That is the anchor leg split from the 3:07.40 HS record.
Official FAT split is listed as (44.743), so that is 44.75 after you round up properly.
Imagine running 47 in high school and STILL getting walked down!
He looks older than the other kids. Is he a year behind in school? Seems like every year we see older kids a year or 2 behind in school running these incredible times. If he was in college, like he should be, would these times be that incredible?? NO.

He turns 19 on June 20th.

I did not turn 18 until the end of June after my senior year of HS. So, he is a year behind.
Lmaooo here we go with the letsrun meme that everyone is 17 before they graduate.
People turn 18 throughout their senior year and occasionally, due to special circumstances like being in a private school (cutoff dates) or something else, they turn 19 a little early.
Wanna know who else was a little older in HS? Noah Lyles — and he's doing just fine now lol.
y’all need to chill and let the kid grow

I started kindergarten at age 4. All of my kids except one who has a summer birthday started kindergarten at age 4. Are you saying private school kids are intellectually slow? I do know some overly controlling parents who also send their kids to private school think it's wise to start their kids at age 6 in kindergarten. Starting kids at age 6 in kindergarten is intended to give their kids an unfair advantage. This lad would still be considered a fast track & field athlete if he were a college freshman.

Graduations are May-June. Cutoff dates for classes are end of September. So, more than 25% of people would be 17 when they graduated.

That video is from a race in 1987. Henry graduated in 1985. He was running for UCLA, or the Santa Monica Track Club, for that race--he only spent a year or two at UCLA. AT UCLA Henry ran the anchor leg on the first college team that broke 3 minutes for the 4x400.
According to Tilastopaja he ran 44.75 in the OPEN 400, which is much better than his relay split.
Didn't Michael Norman split sub 44 in HS?

The cutoff rules vary from state to state.

A freshman in college running 9.98w, 44.73r, and jumping 26-4 would be HUGE. So....YES. Stop being so negative. Sheesh.

No he doesn't. If he weren't white you wouldn't say that.
