Went for my long run in the mountains Sunday and sat on the ground under some bushes later for quite awhile to answer emails. I didn’t feel the bite on my leg, only I saw the red spot there in the shower later, but it wasn’t itchy so I didn’t look close and forgot about it. Well today, ~5 days later, it’s swollen hard, very red, and spread to about a 1.5 inch diameter.
This is usually rattlesnake country, not many ticks or mosquitoes, though it’s been an unusually wet spring. I’ve got no experience with bug bites. It doesn’t have that classic bullseye appearance of a tick borne infection I saw online, but then the CDC site says only 1 in 5 instances of Lyme get the classic rash.
Folks in wetter states, do you go running to a doctor when you get bitten like this? After an hour of googling it I’ve eliminated fire ants, wasps, spiders, and vampires, but have gotten myself into a bit of a hypochondriac lather.
