The Dane Alex Vang Christensen (born 2004) just ran a 10 000 in 30.50.02.
Not bad at all.

Is that Galen Rupp's doppelganger!!?
Doped to the gills
9:15 pace for 3k as a 14 year old?
That's crazy.
Who's the guy running with the ISIS flag?
Maybe it is Rupp..................

If you look into European nation's age group records, you will have 14 yo below 9:00 but 9:15 is already very good (9:50 is quite decent for that age). But 3:05 pace for 10k is very rare outside East Africa, I'd guess.
New 14- and 15- year old world record according to http://age-records.125mb.com/
Future WR holder in 10000 and half marathon? Is this time worth a sub 14 5000?
Didn't Rupp run 16 flat as a 15 year old?
So you're telling me a 14 year old just ran what I was excited to run as a 20 year old college Soph? Well that just ruined my day!
Good for him though, hope he's got a future in the sport at a high level.
Good for him.
Let us know what he runs when he is 18.
Does anyone find it ironic that age cheat is an anagram inside Dane Alex VangChristensen

By that site's own admission it's only a new "51 country record".
Still prefer Rudy Chapa’s 28:32 at 18 y.o.
Rupp ran 28:15 as an 18 y o

Yes, although he turned 19 the next day.
Very impressive. This event is not run on the track for this age group very often but he destroyed the old 14/15 year old records for the countries indicated with good birth certificate records, and he went sub 5 per mile for 10k prior to his 15th birthday (he'd be a typically aged freshman (9th grader) in the United States). To put that in context, Rupp didn't run 28:15 until he was a senior. 30:50 10000m is equivalent to 14:51 5000m, 9:05 2M, 4:16.6 mile, according to McMillan Calculator.
The mile would be about ten seconds off the sophomore US record and maybe 7 seconds off the freshman record. The freshman 2M record must be around 9 flat or just under now. But since athletes at that age are usually endurance-poor, this is a very strong record. I remember a 14:30s 5k from Yong-Sung Leal as a sophomore about ten or fifteen years ago.
For the record, Rupp did not run 28:15 as a senior in HS. It was the next year.
Wow. At that age I was super excited that I could break a 5 min mile. And here he goes and does it continuously for 6 and change.
Tillykke med ham!!
