Pretty impressive! Same 5 guys averaged 9:14 for 3200m as well according to the article

Damn impressive.
And for those keeping score, Luke got a full ride to Oklahoma. I think he's a 4:15/9:11 kid.
Looks like they are bouncing back after going home DEVASTATED at NXN. Hopefully they didn’t peak too soon.
LV or CBA in 4xMile? Who do you got?
McInerney is running real well this season, but one of the biggest contributors has to be Troy Hill (9:11 at Homdel). He is younger brother of CBA legend Brian Hill who graduated last year (#1 guy at NXN). Get Hill in a fast 1600 and he will run around 4:15 as well. Looks like according to Anet he hasn’t run a 1600 yet this outdoor season.
Ne he didn't. Oklahoma has a very generous sliding scale for ACT/SATs and they offer full rides for National Merit Scholars. So unless he is borderline mentally challenged, he got a significant discount for academics.

I heard that the time it takes you to chug a can of cheap, sudsy American beer and the number of Baker Mayfield jerseys you own also plays a big role in the admissions process.
Only people who put sugar and cream in their cold brew coffee (aka people who don’t get it) would pick CBA to beat LV in a 4 x mile.
Loudoun Valley crushed CBA in the NBN indoor 4xmile. Wasn’t even close. I always root for my home state teams but CBA has no chance at a national championship this year.
Why do you come on LRC and lie. I'm in the community and he got a full ride.

Let’s make this happen then.
too bad they'll all have crappy careers in college due to all the overtraining
You are lying. He couldn’t get a full ride at Oklahoma because that means he was not eligible for their academic discounts. If he is not eligible for any academic discount, he is ineligible for the NCAA clearinghouse. So which is it? Will he not be competing or did he not get a full ride? Pretty sure he got a large discount for his SAT and got a 10% athletic scholarship because he is a smart kid, not an idiot like you are claiming.

Listen up chief. Most runners (even the elite tier) don’t get full rides out of high school. Running isn’t like football. Being in the community doesn’t make you right. Stop filling the boards with septic rumors.
@short term
Blaise Ferro at NAU is an alum and he seems to be doing just fine.
There is probably some truth to the comment. When a high school team is very good, of course the guys won’t have as much upside as a team that has poor coaching. That is a good thing, not a bad throng. Ferro is more than okay having run 28:22. The guy could have a running life after college.

I’m sure the Valley is squirming with fear after reading this. Come on wit it Tim!

Nice Article. Good for these guys for fulfilling their potential and averaging 4:15 / 9:14 and all that. I hope they can set as many NJ records and PRs as they want to over the next two months.
The best thing about that article though is the picture of Marty Liquori anchoring the 17:11 National Record and looking like he is 43 years old. I love Marty and he is a very handsome man, but seriously he looks older in that picture (where he is 18) than when he retired in 1980 (where he was 30).

Could not agree more with this poster. There is definitely some attrition associated with CBA runners, but I think many of them are pretty happy with the degree that running helped them get. BTW you also missed Jack Boyle - 29:35 and 2xNCAA XC qualifier @ Columbia and Dan Mykityshyn - sub 9 steeple @ UNC, as more recent guys who succeeded after CBA. Side note: anyone know what happened to Boyle? I remember seeing him run in HS and college and thought he'd make a hell of a marathoner, but it seems like he started to struggle towards the end at Columbia, could have been injuries or just moving on from running.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
