I'm sad.
I really grew to like Joe from the Indoor Nats and all, hope he has a speedy recovery!
Breaking news or completely expected that someone in the Wetmore meat grinder would ultimately break down...no shock here move along.
It is better to burn out than rust out.
Regionals is still 2.5 weeks away, did he catch it early enough to just cross train for three weeks and show up at regionals? I assume he's already been cross training until he found out it was a stress reaction, so the healing has already started.
I wish the lad a speedy recovery, so that he can display his speedy prowess once again. He has been a superb performer. Too bad that his injury has led to a frustrating recovery period. IT HAPPENS TO MORE THAN COACH WETMORE'S RUNNERS! He has succeeded because of the very training which, in his case, led to an injury.
stress fractures are actually a common injury in long distance runners. Not just wetmore athletes.

Thanks for nothing. Wetmore athletes are always getting hurt. That’s a fact

Honest question, over the past 5 to 10 years are there more injuries at CU vs. other top schools. Actually, not just antidotally.
If so, surely he knows this and would do something to mitigate.
I'm thinking injury levels are not much different at CU. Prove me wrong.
Fat face ...
Watch out.
This is why - unless you're a freshman and need the development - if you're healthy, you race. Klecker sat out last year's NCAA track season, no doubt hoping to save his eligibility for this year and next year, and ran close to 13:30 at Portland Track Festival. Now he's injured and will miss this year's season. There's never a guarantee that you're going to be healthy during the season you're trying to save yourself for.

This guy is clearly an idiot
What eligibility does he have let? How long till he joins Tinman Elite?

I imagine he’ll get a sponsorship. So why would he buy adidas gear and stay in Boulder?

Because some of the Tinmen are his close buds NOW, and he buys into the Tinman philosophy big time. And it's a fully-established elite training group whose workouts fit his talent level. And, oh yeah, Boulder is a great place for a distance runner like him to continue to call home after his eligibility is used up at CU in (I think) 2020. Or before, if he graduates in 2019 and wants to go pro.
I think it's quite the opposite. CU has a surprisingly small number of recruits and generally they all make it to the start line for conference and ncaa meets. The years CU is off it's due to lack of depth, and the years they do well everyone has to perform well - plus a local in state recruit has to have a big improvement to fill out the team. Even the women's team tends to work like this . The 2018 NCAA champs were an anomaly to have depth at the 5-7 positions (2 much improved in staters, and a transfer)
They train hard and injuries do happen, but the patients make it back and the loyalty to the program is strong.
It's pretty much a given that Klecker goes Tinman. He lives with some of them already (think he and Parsons are roomies) and he runs with them quite often. Also, Klecker is likely good enough and tight enough with the crew already that he can swing an Adi sponsorship.

Every now and then one of their patients tries to run (literally) the asylum and has to be let go to join the military, where mental health-challenged individuals are better appreciated.
Ten HUT! I mean Ten MILES!
P. Rocha (not loyal to the program)
If true, it's a shame. He was having a solid season. Best of luck to him going forward.
