No, dude, that's the public message the boss uses so they can pay their workers as little as possible and profit as much as possible. It's funny how quickly some people just take the boss at their word. The top-5 execs at Uber made more than $140 million last year. They can pay their workers more. They don't want to. Workers did a 1 day strike. It's as simple as that.
& get over the argument that jobs are just like this now. or that it's just kids working jobs like this. wages are too low everywhere & a lot of people are working 2-3 jobs to get by. if employers are profitable & there are ways to pay workers more, they should but seldom do. that's why labor has to flex every now and then. read up some union/labor history. do you think a lot of workplace protections and standards were put in place because the boss decided so? workers organized & fought for much of what we take for granted.
