Advanced runners have their own rhythm.
Advanced runners have their own rhythm.
I know plenty of fast runners that listen to music on easy and long runs.
I rarely do it. Maybe a bit in the winter when the music drowns our annoying traffic sounds, but otherwise I’d rather hear my natural environment.
Apple Watch + Bluetooth earbuds means that there is no real gear to deal with if you want to do it.

Because most advanced runners like to think they’re better than everyone else and will say/think anything to make them seem better than somebody else. I enjoy running with music and I am almost at a sub 15 5k, it’s really not a big deal and when running high mileage it makes it more enjoyable, I could do it without and did for a few years but why should I make running feel as mundane as possible just to feel like I am above others?
sub 15:00 5k in college is the high school equivalent of the 4:30 mile.
why do you think you're "Advanced"? Not hating, but just curious why you felt the need to mention that.
i personally don't run with music because if i'm around traffic i think it's dangerous if you cannot hear what's coming at your from behind etc. i feel out of touch with what's happening in the run

Why beginners HAVE TO listen to music while advanced CAN'T listen to music??
Sure they do. But the real question is why do the intellectually impaired give a sh!t?
I’ve run times that are plenty advanced. Ran Division 1 track, and I only run with music when I’m alone. It doesn’t faze me if for some reason I don’t have music, but generally I prefer it.

If you are a good runner, you don't listen to music, you MAKE music with each and every stride. In your cadence is the rhythm, your mechanics the harmony, your armswing the counterpoint.

Does David Rudisha not "make music with each and every stride"??
Gay Marriage is extremely dangerous to our country.
Legalizing Marijuana seems like a tame thing yet may be a far greater danger.
Dating girls on the team...go for it if you are a boy!
Please know the difference.
Actually Gay Marriage and Marijuana are world problems.

How do you know it was music from a photograph? It might have been a news podcast, or a comedy show, or even a recording of his own self running.
Rudisha listens to music during his warm-ups.
That's what he says. He doesn't want anyone knowing he never misses the lets run podcast.
I rarely listen to music when I run because it's hard to listen to music when you are talking on the cell.
And if I am listening to music or talking on the cell I don't care how I look or what people think of me. I am a runner so what others think of me is irrelevant.

0% chance you believe a word of this new-age nonsense.
When I picked up running, ipods didn't exist and I didn't listen to anything.
Now I listen to books, podcasts, or music. I just recently bought a pair of bone construction headphones and they are fantastic. I can hear both the music and my surroundings. I use a garmin too., which I did not have when I started running.
I love technology!

"Phenomena" is a plural, not a singular.

I'm just gonna take a stab here and guess he ditched the phone, jacket, and bulky headphones before going on a run on a warm, sunny day.
