Someone is def going to need maximum security after that call.
In these conditions, not surprising the horse got out of line. The DQ not surprising but still a BS call.
I was very surprised they took the winner down. Like someone said on TV, if this were a maiden claimer on a Tuesday afternoon the winner would have been DQ'd, but in the Kentucky Derby they generally let the horses bump around quite a lot unless there's something really egregious. The best horse got shafted. And no, I didn't have any money on the race.
Didn’t bother wasting time. Did any horse have to be put down?
Definitely think it was unfair, but I can see why they made the decision. Country House really benefitted from the impediment more than anyone. Unfortunately, almost assured no triple crown this year...
And you thought IAAF had difficult decisions to umpire.
That was weak of the Country House jockey to say in the interview that he was impeded... If anything it helped him come in second and then win due to the foul.
Ten million in stud fees down the drain.
My buddy lost $17000 at the local OTB on that decision.
I don't follow horse racing but love watching the triple crown when I am near a TV at post time... but WTF.. It is a horse race, they open the gates, they run, first one to end wins.. They are friggin horses.. there should be no DQ's!!!

must be a big horseplayer to bet that much.
the right call was made.
7 impeded the action of both the 1 and the 18... can't do that.
20 was pushed out slightly and benefited greatly from the DQ but 7 should have been DQ'd because he caused 18 to lose all chance and certainly stopped 1's momentum and chance to win.
(i will say this, in my opinion, if Bob Baffert had been the trainer of the 7 they would not have Dq'd him.)

Not really.. He would have hit a triafecta with a friend.
A two dollar triafecta paid $11,475.30 today!

Had they not DQ'd the original winner (Maximum Security) your friend's tri would have paid much less because the favorite would have been the winner instead of a 65-1 long shot. The pay off was so large because the favorite was not the winner or in the top 3.

Trifecta or trifecta box?

LRC deleted the TDS response here, but they are all over the Internet.

For the most part I agree. That jockey knew what was up - he moved out twice to block other horses, just watch the replay. Not sure if Baffert would have had a DQ or not in that position. One would think with his shot at such history, no, but "the sport of kings" is odd top to bottom.

No, really? I did not say he bet two dollars.. He did not go in with a buddy for a dollar each. They put down decent amount of cash on a couple of bets. Nothing huge like was referenced above. The house make a killing today.... Raked it in with that decision.

The house paid out no more or less due to this DQ. It paid out exactly what if would have only on different tickets.
