Is Hicham El Guerrouj’s mile world record (3:43.13) more impressive than Eliud Kipchoge’s marathon world record? (2:01.39)

Both due to 'technological advances', neither are that impressive once you factor them in. The world records haven't actually improved much since the 60s and 70s.
I think more people at this time could break the mile record than the marathon record
Nobody has gone near that record in the last 10 years....where do you draw that conclusion?
The mile WR will be untouchable for the next 50 years whereas sub 2 will probably be broken soon.

1500m conversions. people are capable of setting the record, but the event is not run frequently enough on the international level for top pros to take a stab at the record.

Well, I'm dumb and didn't check my facts beforehand.
I thought more people had run 3:27 than there have been. Still think Kejelcha and Cheruiyot are capable of beating the record at some point.
Kipchoge, I think. A lot more has to go right in the marathon than the mile. Without a perfect confluence of good weather, a fast course, logistical support, pacing, and most importantly a perfect training buildup with no injuries, Eliud’s record is unassailable
The mile is rarely run.
The mile had a less than 1% drop in a decade. The marathon has had a near 2% drop in a decade.
Marathon more impressive.

In U.S., there are always plenty of 1:44 to 1:46 800m men. It is possible for a U.S. 1:44 to 1:46 800m to have several years of injury free high quality training and possibly break mile world record. U.S. citizens probably race one mile more the citizens from other nations. I cannot see a U.S. citizen racing sub-2:02 Marathon with current shoe technology.
Let's add komen's 3k wr into the discussion. Marathon>3k wr> mile wr...?

His 1500 WR is better than his mile WR and people have been really close to that.
Chad Ochocinco beats both of them.

Only two people have been 'really close to that' - Bernard 'B Sample' Lagat, who was running as a contemporary slap bang in the EPO era, and Asbel Kiprop who has finally been caught.
Even then, nobody has gotten anywhere near it on a track other than Monaco.
Excluding convicted EPO cheat Kiprop, the fastest 1500m non-Monaco time in the last 10 years is Augustine Chogo with 3:29.47.
With testing being ramped up in Kenya and hopefully the whole of East Africa, I think will be lucky to see sub 3:30 times soon.
Having said that, I do think Jakob will be getting very near it, at least on the Monaco track, in the next few years.
I often wonder if objects could dope the Monaco track would be a doper

Huh? Go to the ER immediately. You're having a stroke.

Komen's 3k even more impressive than the mile WR, as no one has come remotely close to it in >20 years. As with the mile one could argue 3k is rarely run, so fewer chances for it to be broken.
Boulami's WR time of 7:53.17 has stood now for 17 yrs. Koech & Kipruto have come close but no cigar.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
