Hey, they finally start running, with a mile to go.
Ben True just needs a 2:59 last 1200 to get the standard. will at least be under 28 along with a handful of other guys
Hassan Mead DNF
KInd of infuriating to run that long, that hard, and fall 10 secs short.
LETSRUN'S OWN BENJAMIN DEHAAN
coming in at low 28min pace. PB was 28:40s
nice
Ben True continuing to roll, hits 27:52 followed by Marc Scott a couple seconds back
Estrada and Buchanan get under 28:00
and a rare Lawi Lalang sighting in 28:03

I lost my last race (50 miles in over 6 hours) by 15 seconds. talk about infuriating
watch here, kinda, not really wrote:

Ben ran the last 5 in 5:21. He could've done it (27:40).
Ended up running the whole last mile by himself anyway. He should've pushed it earlier.
Oh, well. He remains in that large group of guys who never manage a track 10K PB that's anywhere close to representative of their ability.
Yall slept on kirubel. Didnt see his name in a single preview
I didn’t see the race, see that it didn’t go fast early. I can’t tell from the comments I’d there was a group of pacemakers who didn’t do well or if there weren’t any at all. Thanks for the insight.

Ben True also remains a Letsrun favorite that has no actual proven potential to run well in the WC's or olympics...assuming he can even qualify.
great dude and wonderful for the sport, but very overrated.
Letsrunners need to separate their desire for him to be great from his actual ability to produce results.

Nope. Not overrated at all. Probably America's single best road-racer over the last 6-7 years, and probably the best set of 5K track performances over the same span. (I doubt anyone else has as many sub-13:20s or 13:15's as he has in that stretch.)
Hasn't performed to his ability in track 10K's (neither has anyone else not named Rupp, really), and hasn't quite gotten it done in qualification races for international teams, which is unfortunate (and again puts him on par with a number of other top guys).
Fans of the sport admire guys with accomplishments like that, and root for them to do well.
A**holes try to make themselves feel bigger by ripping them when they fail.
Happy to set you straight. Have a great weekend now.
Ben is frustrating to watch. The reason that he didn’t qualify had nothing to do with fitness or weather or opportunity. He did not have the balls to take it at 4 miles. Nothing more and nothing less. No one should feel sorry for him he made the choice not to qualify himself.
