Wams is no longer looking comfortable. Shoulders appear to have become more tense, his arm carriage is higher, and I believe I saw a grimace.

Keep in mind the loops for the individual runners are not 10K. We're looking into updating the split names with both mi and km
hmm since vaporflys are known for causing injuries sooner or later, is Hoka suffering the same way?
Does anyone else agree Hoka stream better than any of the streams for a WMM?
What’s this stupid 10x10K record being attempted as well?
it's about 60 degrees at the race, but with not much shade. will be 70 degrees at noon when he finishes.
Jim looks a little better now and one of the guys who trains with him doesn't seem too worried. Says if he goes 605 he still gets record . Doesn't seem concerned he totally falls apart.
But it's hot here in sun.

I've never followed ultra events, and I'm enjoying how this is broadcast so much more than how NBC ever has!
Overheard Walmsley telling Eric something (commentator/training partner on the lead cart) and Eric kept saying, "I know, I know, just hang in there"
All other events should learn to provide streams on youtube or twitch. Are the NBC, flosports, etc, deals really that valuable? That it's worth giving up on growing the sport and just getting hardcore fans to pay while interest stagnates? With these free HD streams you can bring in new fans to the sport. If a relatively small apparel company can put together this production for a one-off event, I would hope USATF, IAAF, etc, could do the same, when they have the potential to partner with multiple sponsors (potentially bigger companies) to fund the production. They should learn from esports. Running coverage is so archaic without having a reason to be. Major sports have a reason to cling to old models until they run dry but smaller sports like running should be quicker to adapt.
This coverage is excellent.
Does anybody know the names of the commentators?
Jim looks exhausted..

Agreed!

He's so toast, its way too hot in the sun. If you have ever been to Sacramento you know the Sun just burns on you withour shade. Why didn't they start the race at like 4am PST to keep the people out of the heat?
Hoka did over $200 million in sales last year. Not really a "relatively small apparrel company." All that being said, this is a solid production, a la the Sub 2 project. Certainly shows how much Flo blows.
A 100km race truly starts at 70-75km. The early stages are just sparring and pleasantries. Key split coming up here.
Walmsley talking a lot with his buddy on the cart. 2 hours to go. Going to be v tough. I believe he gets passed at 5 1/2 hour mark by Yamauchi.

Not sure about injuries, but Camille Herron switched out of her Vaporflys at some point in her 24 hour record race and went to the softer Pegasus Turbo. That's a long way to run with springy carbon plate shoes (not that I'd know).

Why have a tracker in miles when you are running a perfectly decimal event , 100km, ?
Because even though we've been pushing the metric system in our schools since the 70s, we just can't get it. USA! USA! USA!
LoL, really, you find it hard to divide and multiply by ten, and where every measurement unit is relatable in tens?
So why decimalise the mile splits, i.e. 38.55M, and why have (as someone else put it) that stupid 10 x 10km record attempt?
It is much easier to relate to the pace of a decimal distance when you have decimal splits none of that "divide by 4, carry 2, subtract 5 " crap
