he's talking to Eric Senseman who is the commentator who is sitting in the back of the lead vehicle. probably getting splits and info on Tyler/Hideaki
he looks tired but fine.
Tyler wanted to be ahead of Jim at mile 50, but Jim was definitely going for the record as well as 6:00 100k pace is right on for the WR at 50mi.
Not surprised that Tyler dropped. his goal pace was too quick.
Not too bad Weldon. You didn't embarrass us!
“In this heat? If Kipchoge were out here today, I say he gets beat.” -Wejo
Yeah, because warm temps are a total unknown to Kenyans. They probably just do an air conditioned treadmill run, right?
Patrick Reagan looks SO SMOOTH. still run 6:15s or so and is a ways back from the front, but he's exactly on 6:20 100k pace as planned.
Patrick Reagan and Hideaki Yamauchi know what they are doing. I hope there get new personal bests for themselves.
37 to 39 minute 10k, not looking to hot.

Yeah all of the Kenyan runners I know actually do very well in the heat compared to Americans. One of my Kenyan teammates used to run with a jacket on if it was below 65. On the other hand many of them seem to run very poorly once it gets below 30. Kipchoge would likely easily dominate this event by several minutes.
Less than 20 minutes out from 50 mile mark. Eric saying Jim now focusing on that record. Sounds like race will be over at that point (though he has to finish up all 100 K to get 50 miler recognized)
64 degrees now but it probably feels hotter than that.
Jim is NOT PLEASED with how he is feeling. trying to psych himself up. still likely to break the 50mi record. gonna guess he'll take a short stop to grab some ice sometime after 50mi
Another mention of just the 50 miler, 100k is done for.

Forget all this focus on Kipchoge. Any standard 2:14 marathoner would destroy all these Instagram joggers. It would be a bloodbath.
I think we've been spoiled by how easy Eliud makes it look. Jim is showing how unglamorous these distance races can be. Even Jim's pacer was throwing up and that was 30 miles ago!
12 minutes to get Fordyce's record.
Jim will need to run about 6:40s for the last 12mi after the 50mi split to get both records.
he just split 4:37:43 for 47.98mi, so his last loop was 6:06/mi. he will get the 50mi record by probably a minute or two.
he has 13min to run under 2mi
Jim needs 6:13 pace from 43.3 to 50 miles to get that record. He just ran 6:06 thorough 48 miles so he should get the 50 mile record but not by much
Maybe, but they haven't.
Imagine complaining avout temps in the 60’s with half the course in the shade..

Jim just ran a 1:04 half, not sure where you're getting that from.

course isn't half shaded, and you try running a marathon or two in 64 degrees. it's too hot, trust me.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
