The correct ruling.
Does this also apply if she moves up to 5k? She did win the SA Champs last week...
Great news!
Does this mean Laura can appeal to get her 2017 World Championships 1,500m Bronze medal awarded?
Court for arbitration of sport ruled that Castser Semenya can not compete at 1500m or below without lowering her testosterone levels.
Just seen the decision! Thank goodness!
If the tiny amounts of hormone in the HRT were taking was enough to affect their performance, then obviously their performance was dependent on male levels of hormones.
After all, many female athletes compete successfully on the much higher levels of female hormones provided in the contraceptive pill, than in hrt.
I feel sorry for her.

Why? She will move up in distance and probably compete at a very competitive level there (see the SA 5k finals). It isn't just a testosterone advantage - it is all of the other physical advantages as well that are there and have developed in part because of the testosterone. Honestly the suppression should be for any distance although this ruling is an excellent step forward.
Huge story..,
....will ignorant SJW cry out in complaint?
The forecast is for a tsunami of trolling and as many people as possible referring to Caster as 'he' and/or saying 'internal testes' which some folks seem to get some kind of perverse kick out of. Normal decent people - time to take (yet another) break from this wretched place.
Excellent news.
Sad for Caster but good overall for women's running.
Does this mean Caster can run the 1500 this year?
"While the IAAF rule applies to the 400-, 800-, and 1,500-meter events — Semenya’s primary races — the CAS judges say the IAAF should not yet apply the rules to the 1,500."

Exactly, even women on roids couldn't compete with her.

I feel bad for Caster. Objectively, she has taken a lot of flack over the years. It feels like the track/running world has talked about what may or may not be below the skin for a decade or so. By all accounts she’s a good woman who wants to run fast. And drugging her and others to make it more equitable for other runners just doesn’t sit right. But CAS made the right decision, as bad as it feels. I believe this ruling does the “least harm.”

CAS has the authority here so does this mean IAAF will not yet apply this to the 1500?

I'd say so, this entire incident has been a scam from the beginning and it wouldn't surprise me if Caster went for another shot of fake glory and in the mean time rally SJW support for her cause.

Yes she can run the 5,000 without lowering testosterone.
I think a lot of people on here are having the same reaction. Sad ruling for Semenya but necessary won for women's sport. And the ruling appears to confirm Semenya is 46 XY.
A bit surprised the IAAF won as their initial study was completely botched and the human emotional angle is to let an athlete like Semenya compete in what she wants to compete in.

The 1500 is the question, not the 5000

No, but in a few years we will look back on this like other sports look back on rebel League's (eg the ABA in Basketball, Super League in Australian Rugby League, the Rival Indian cricket league etc) and say to ourselves, "Remember well we let men run in women's races, crazy?"
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
