10k road Event on a flat course. Can he go sub 28 considering his crazy marathon 10k splits ?

He isn't a 10k runner. I'm getting tired of all these threads about Kipchoge. There are way too many. I'm tempted to go to Runnersworld instead because of all the boring crap here. Nothing changes.

I love bekele too but don't be a whiny little sh!t because he's still recovering from injury
27 low or maybe even faster.
The guy is a beast. He could probably drop down to 5 and 10K even at 38 and smash Bekele's records. Guy is a beast, a one off.

+1
I read he was thinking of giving the 5K on the track a serious go with the aim of taking apart Bekele's WR, but the decision to scrap the 5K from the Diamond League changed his mind.

Not going to happen
How do you know how fast Kipchoge could run a 5K on the track? You're nuts if you think he couldn't go sub 12:30 with only one season focusing on the event. The money is in the marathon these days.
I stand corrected Banana Bread. I just watched Bekele's WR in Hengelo for the first ever time..and I...my word.
Bekele could have broken 12:30 that day. He even looks like he's grinning as he's sprinting the last 200m.
Was this before or after El G beat him in Athens?
No way man, he would probably run like 12:50 or so at best. 12:30?! Bekele's 12:37 is safe for another decade at least.

Kipchoge was more than good in his twenties as a 5000m runner; Kipchoge at his age could not thrive in 5000m races. There is no way Kipchoge could race sub-12:40 5000m today. When you watch high school meets, you may observe high school lads racing 1600m, (4:08 to 4:12). Do you also assume same high school lads can race (1:51 or 1:53) 800m? It does not always work that way.

Ummmmm.... Ever hear of Bernard Dog Lagat???
Do you guys remember that Kipchoge beat Bekele and El G at the WC 5k when he was 19? He also beat Farah in an indoor 2 mile when Farah was winning gold at 5/10k, then went on to destroy him at the marathon.
In my mind, Bekele had/has no inherent advantage over Kipchoge at 5/10k, he is clearly better at the marathon. Putting a limit in what Kipchoge can do seems silly.
this whole thread is weird, to the point I'm wondering whther it's a joke?
On the one hand there's the OP speculating whether or not Kipchoge could run sub 28 for 10k on the roads (I'd literally hand over all my worldly belongings if he couldn't) to another poster saying he'd easily run sub 12.30 for 5k if he focused on that for a year, and no-one really questioned either.
Odd

No.
26:55 - time trial w/ great pacing
On a fast course he's dipping a tick or three below 27:00, at least, with his marathon fitness. I suppose it's a different story if he does 10k training, but why would he bother?
How can you even support Bekele, he is clearly one of the dirtiest runners of all time? People still act like he's going to make a come back too. I'm all for fast world records, I don't care if he is cheating but to support him and act like he didn't is absolutely unbelievable

Highly doubt it. There are some very promising young Ethiopian runners. One ran 12:42 this year
I'm going with 26:49.02
Not sure about the roads, but I asked Patrick Sang last week how fast he thought Kipchoge could run on a track for 10k right now and he said somewhere in the high 26-minute range.
