Then?
Tokyo or Boston? Then Olympics
I also have information Eliud is bound to run Berlin again. He&Sang believe he can break the world record once again and given ideal weather he could try and set a mark that will make him immortal. He's got nothing to lose, a 2:02 or 2:04 win won't mean anything to him now so he can try go for broke this time.
Boring. There are more important issues going on in the world like global warming, world international relations, economies, scientific breakthroughs, inventions and discoveries. I don't think the world is going to stop to look at a boring race.
After what he said at Monday’s press conference, I’ll bet he’s going to run NYC
No no no. No New York or Doha in 2019!! Only a set-up to run the fastest legally possible race. Either Berlin(most probable if they will accept the requirements of Eliud) or a special set-up in Amsterdam (gsc base)
Honestly in terms of the elevation profile for Tokyo Olympics (while will be different from the WMM course) the great option next might be New York. He may want to run there to prep for the Olympics and get a race with no rabbits. Although there was talk of him doing a non-major this fall from his agency.
I think he may go New York, London again, Olympics, then Boston and Berlin 2021 and Tokyo 2022. Sure he's not showing signs of slowing down, but the next 6-7 years isn't guaranteed either. He can't be too greedy with his time if he actually want to complete these other 3 majors in addition to the Olympics. London/Berlin sound great, but another win from him in these places would be boring and doesn't prove much more than what everyone else already knows.
I'm glad the best show up and he gets huge appearance fees, but A) he doesn't come off as someone who's really in it for the money and B) he doesn't want to leave any doubts from people saying "He's great and all, but he would never be able to tackle a course like Boston/NY w/ the hills and bad weather and no pacemakers." I think he would win the other majors and he's still the GOAT if he doesn't, but leaving his career without these marathons still leaves a component of uncertainty for many.

And yet here you are, still acting like a retard.
So TEN WMM, the Olympic gold, the WR, and a 2:00:24 time trial, and you still think there's a question in anyone's mind whether or not he's the greatest ever? Even stranger, he needs to win Boston or NYC in your mind to be considered the best? What is it with Americans thinking their marathons are the gold standard?
Berlin, London again, Olympics, then Tokyo and New York 2021 and Boston 2022, then retire in Berlin 2022 as his farewell or in London 2023. Sounds more plausible this way. Or maybe a second breaking2 after the olympics as they would have more time, and retire at the end of 2023.
Would live to see him at NYCM while in his prime. Doing a 'farewell tour' when he is no longer #1 would not be the same.
How old is he? Seems like he is 36-38? How much longer can he go on for? (I guess his 2:02, says pretty long!)

Who said he wouldn't be close to his best in a few years? I think he still wants to accomplish a few things.
1st he wants to win again at the Olympics in Tokyo.
2nd to try and improve his own world record and lower that mark for as much as possible (1-2 more tries in Berlin, maybe this september will be his last try towards this goal)
3rd win berlin two more times to have the most Berlin wins ever (already has most london wins)
4th if Nike would be willing to organise it, they would have a go at a 2nd breaking2
5th win Boston,New York,Tokyo to win all 6 world marathon majors
6th end his career aged 40 at the 2024 summer olympics in Paris, defending his title (hopefully), would go down as the goat athlete of all sports regardless the outcome.
What's the chance he will accomplish all of the above? How insane would it be if he actually does it?
Maybe Chicago since it's flat and Nike approved?
I hope he does them all in the next couple of years while he is still #1, including Fukuoka.
2019 - NYC
2020 - London, Tokyo Olympics
2021- Boston, Berlin
2022- Tokyo, Fukuoka
Thanks! You saved me a lot of writing
Hope is not a plan. wrote:

Calm down dude, Kipchoge says he wants to win all the major marathons. That would include NYC and Boston.
Let's be patient, time will tell. However, what i'm pretty sure of, his next 3 marathons will be Berlin-London-Olympics.
Until he won't be crowned 2xOlympic champ, he won't change his winning formula. Also, he is more suited to the hills than 95% of his competitors, he encounters hills in his training almost every day. Won't be bothered or phased by hills/heat/lack of pacemakers.
NYC-Boston-Tokyo will have to wait at least until 2021. Or maybe he will have a go at 2020 NYC 3 months after the Olympics as he doesn't have to play it safe any longer.

You do know you are on a running forum? LOL
And Kipchoge is literally the GOAT of distance running so um yeah everyone cares.
If Kipchoge had a day like 2011 in Boston, he'd go under 2 hours and then we could argue for the next 100 years whether that was legitimate or not.
Didn't he say he'll always come back to Berlin? I thought he said that last year. Maybe he'll deviate from his 2 a year and go Berlin/New York?
But yeah, he's running Berlin, IMO. Pho Sure!
