Have zero interest in watching this. Am amazed that over a billion viewers watched the final show. Why the interest in this show? Are viewers the same ones who were playing Dungeons and Dragons many years ago?

First of all, no.
Second of all, there's no way we could explain it to you for you to understand how awesome it is. You'd have to watch it for yourself and see, but you probably get off on telling people how you don't watch like you're special.
Game of Thrones is adult fantasy, meaning relationships and hurt emotions and betrayal and greed and different "cultures" ... all the best and worst of the human heart... with dragons and zombies and witches and fantasy elements. It's also amazingly written and produced. Last night's episode was the most expensive single episode in TV history. It was basically an 80 minute battle that was much better than the end battles of LOTR. The money is on the screen. And last night was not the final show - 3 more to go. Last night there was a final "something" - but if you haven't watched it, no spoilers.
Mainstream entertainment. It is popular for the same reasons Beyonce, Céline and Gaga are.
What is it about people who don't watch GoT that makes them feel the need to go around telling everyone that they don't watch GoT?

Fair enough. Nice capsulation.
Hi Bad Wigins! Too obvious. You've posted this comment before.
The first six seasons were pretty good. Pretend 7 & 8 don't exist. Cheers!
I don't watch game of thrones either. I'm also vegan btw.
It's not my genre but I respect it, as an aspiring novelist. They put a lot of work into it, even if it's not my *personal* preference.
Very astute, nobody has ever made the connection between D&D and GoT before. You should publish a paper.
The books were terrible so I couldn't bring myself to watch the show.
Boy I tell ya what's with women? They sure like to shop don't they! And us guys, man we'll do anything for sex, am I right??
Hey and what's with all these Indian's owning convenience stores?

Well it might have been if it wasn't shot so dark. I had to watch it a second time with brightness at 100% to see what the hell was happening. Even then while comparable to the battle for Helms Deep, it probably still not as good. Too much camera movement and the dragon battle was hard to follow.

In other words, a combination of Days Of Our Lives and Dark Shadows for millennials.

Gotta agree!!! They ran out of books’ material and the writing is just not there in the last few seasons... Boring, simplified, shallow... Big difference to first 4-5 seasons... Also, they are speeding it up just to get over it... And don’t get me started on the last episode (S08E3)... The action scenes were fine but the whole climax was a real turnoff... Really, WTF!!! It made no sense... I just leave it at that as I don’t want tickets spoil it for the rest of you...
I can say with confidence that the finale of "Game of Thrones" was amazing. I don't see the point of sitting down and writing something that leads to Game of Thrones being crap. We are all people and we have different opinions, this is about the series finale, and as for the comparison with D&D, for me it's 2 different things. It's clear that the theme is almost the same, but lol, D&D is a game with a storyline, Game of Thrones is a TV series. I am sure that after watching the series, many people will want to play again in D&D, but only with a completely different outlook. My friends and I played the game every weekend, and we will continue to do so.
