It’s time they tighten things up more on the women’s end. I just checked Bq Times the 35 year old female standard is the same as the 59 year old males.

Because women are the inferior sex.

. . . and a 50-54 year old guy has to run 5 minutes (3:25) faster than the slowest time for ANY age woman (3:30).
Since when is 59 years old considered elderly?
Try being a woman in your next life with the boobs, butt, hormones, awkward hips and period cramps to deal with through training and then you might understand.

Its why the Semenya decision is so important, she could be running the same routine for another 30 years!!!! (unless of course the event is overrun with people just like her and the end of womens sports)
For 90% of the participants this is a social event, public relations event for race.
Come on, man up! Just suck it up and train.
It is true, however, that women have it easy in the standards for Boston and the Olympic Trials, in that the gap between the top women and the standards are considerably larger, percentage-wise, than between the top men and the standards for men. 3:30's 55.6% slower than the women's world record.

Sorry, but if I earn a spot in the People's Olympics I don't want to spend 26.2 miles with a bunch of sweaty dudes. The more ladies, the better! Do you complain when they charge women no cover and offer half off drinks at the bar?
instead of asking why it's so easy for women to qualify/BQ, why dont we instead ask why so many men have to post such better qualifying times en masse
since the race is looking for male::female parity in participation, with some distribution of age groups that ~ represents running participation, why aren't we asking why men dont just slow the f*ck down and hobbyjog 25-30 mpw to get their qualifiers just like the women do?
Eg the problem is that men are more competitive and train longer and post better times, and if Boston is only going to select from the 'right side' of the distribution curve [only the fastest], why not shift the entire curve to the left just like the women do?
If you are worried about making the qualifying time you are just another participant anyway.
Stan: We need to talk about your BQ time.
Joanna : Really? I... I hit the BQ
Stan: Well, okay. BQ is the minimum, okay?
Joanna : Okay.
Stan: Now, you know it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Or... well, like Brian, for example, has BQ minus thirty seven, okay. And a terrific smile.
Joanna : Okay. So you... you want me to run faster?
Stan: Look. Joanna.
Joanna : Yeah.
Stan: People can run a marathon anywhere, okay? They come to Boston for the atmosphere and the attitude. Okay? That's what the run is about. It's about fun.
Joanna : Yeah. Okay. So faster then, yeah?
Stan,: Look, we want you to express yourself, okay? Now if you feel that the bare minimum is enough, then okay. But some people choose to run faster and we encourage that, okay? You do want to express yourself, don't you?
Joanna : Yeah, yeah.
Stan: Okay. Great. Great. That's all I ask.
Joanna : You know what, Stan, if you want me to run BQ minus 37, like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the minimum BQ minus 37?
Stan: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to run faster.
Joanna : Yeah. You know what, yeah, I do. I do want to run faster, okay. And I don't need BQ minus 37 to do it.

I am a woman. I have always thought the women’s standards were incredibly soft. I always felt bad for my guy friends who busted their asses and struggled to get the standard and I qualify after taking walk breaks in my Boston qualifier.
Kudos to everyone that makes it but I always considered it a higher accomplishment for a man to make it because the men’s standards seemed more challenging.
And I’m not elite nor am I a jogger. my fitness ranges from fast to not so fast. My marathons have ranged from 3 hours to almost 4. With the exception of one marathon (and I struggled in a few) I always made the standard. Doesn’t seem fair.
It is comical that a young healthy male has to run a 2:59 which on paper is in the top 1% of everyone who has ever run a marathon.. a women had to run 3:30-3:35 which is in the top 40 % . It’s definitely asking a lot more of men but it is what it is, it’s not nearly as prestigious of a women qualified and they know it’s easy. Most women can qualify in there first marathon without even trying, I read once it takes a man on average 9 marathons to Bq.
I agree that the women's BQ standards are soft compared to the men's, but women have only been allowed to run Boston for the past few years, so boo hoo.

To a runner it isn’t as prestigious, but to everyone else it is.
The average person would think a woman who bq is a better runner than a man who ran 3:05, but didn’t qualify

Unless you are a charity runner, increasing the women’s time by 30 minutes, won’t make any tangible difference on the amount of woman you see when running, creep.
A woman who qualifies with bq -10 won’t be any where close to a man who bq -1
Who cares? Getting a “BQ” is not a significant life achievement and it doesn't really contribute to anything apart from the satisfaction of knowing you have better endurance than most people you walk past in the street and the only people who care about what a “BQ” even is are people who are OCD about running.
